I've got a TARDIS from Miniature Scenery's 'Street Scenery 2' kit that I'm planning to paint up for my girlfriend who is an ardent Whovian. I'm wondering what shade of Citadel blue best matches the TARDIS - Macragge? Kantor? Calgar?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Macragge is too light Kantor too dark. It's also a less vibrant blue than either. I'd add a touch of some kind of mid grey to lighten Kantor while making it a little more drab.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I'm thinking Macragge washed with Army Painter Strong Tone and then given a grey zenithal highlight.

Depends which TARDIS blue you want..

I think for most of them you're be best starting with The Fang as the base colour.

David Tennant's Tardis mostly seems to look like The Fang with 2-4 black washes over it (it's grubbyness varied)

It's been a lot more vibrant since then. Matt Smith's was not far off Kantor Blue initially and Macragge Blue latterly. I think you could get away with a Macragge for Capaldi's as well.

Kantor mixed with The Fang to give the dusty tint.
It's a difficult one, I'd not have said any one blue quite fits.

Tardis blue is its own peculiar shade.
