Hello Dakka, after a long deployment I am back in the states, and ready to start my first 30k army.
I spent time trying to decide if i wanted to do a Space wolf army or Imperial Fists, but when Russ was
released and with there book on the horizon, the Wolves ended up winning my attention. This blog is for my 30k wolves for now, but may change later on when I start working on my DKoK.
I have 50 Mrk III marines from the Prospero box, and because I don't have any books yet for 30k I'll be starting with 2 basic 15 man squads, then ill be adding Special weapons, vehicles ect.
So here's my start on a Sgt, the head and both arms are magnetized with all available options (that come with the Prospero box) and a helmet less head.
Here's some shots of where to magnets are.
torso
head and bolt pistol arm
next update I will have started painting, coming soon.

Looks good. I'm also a sucka for magnetising dudes, never magnetised a head before though, suppose it gives you alot of freedom for posing and you can dramatically turn the head to look at the opposing forces.

Hey evildrcheese, heres a picture with the other head.
Spoiler:
Here is an update, first guy painted
This was my first time painting in a year or so, but I've learned much from this try. I'm going to try to start thinning my paints down more, or apply one less layer.
That, and I need to practice keeping a steady hand.
Here are some Work in progress shots.

I was trying to get a reflecting/glowing eye lens effect, but it didn't work out how I wanted it to.
I'm not sure how I want to base them yet. They are very lightly glued down for now. I was thinking about a really muddy base theme, but I'm not sure how to make it.
I'm happy with the color scheme and I feel like I'm starting out at TT quality (I could be wrong though, I might be worse then I think )

Looking good so far bud. Ive only got back in to warhammer recently and haven't painted anything for a long time. Picked 30k wolves to as a coming back project.
Nice dark grey you've used, am using the mechanicus standard grey spray and building up form there. Well that's the plan when I can get them under coated.

I based them with Mechanics standers grey, then a layer of dawnstone.
There's a video I used as a Guideline for painting the wolves, I've changed a few small things, but its mostly the same.

Any plans to pick up the big man. I will after plenty of painting basic marines to brush up on. Yeah I've seen a couple painting vids. There's a guide online from battlebunies I think. Does a good job on there with a silver glaze.

Yeah, Russ is one of the main reasons I'm doing Space Wolves. But I'm going to wait for there book, and my skills to improve before I try a crack at him.

Got my ForgeWorld order.
x10 Space Wolves sholders
x5 Space Wolves Torsos
x5 MK III armor marines
I started to get magnets into both arms and head joints.
Here are some poses, light puddy is holding the legs/torsos together. I plan on using the SW Torsos from FW as Artificer Armor, so naturally the Sgts and IC will have them.

Hello everyone, I'm sorry that it took so long for me to update this blog. Work and life have kept me busy but now that I have some free time I can start up again.
Spoiler:
So first up is this awesome model.
I used magnets in his joints so I can move and pose his arm
I did the same with his waist so I can rotate him for some dramatic poses.
Spoiler:
Up next are these two, one is from the BaC set the other is Forgeworld
I used magnets on his joints as well
And even on his weapons
Here's the BaC dread, this was my first attempt at battle damage.
And yes even his joints have magnets
Spoiler:
I was able to complete another 15 man squad for my Grey Slayers here's a few of them.
Spoiler:
And here we have my Two pack leaders and Thaine.
Here's the first pack leader the a great frost blade
(I know, the picture came out darker then I expected)
I put magnets in he's arms and head.
Here's there other guy, again the picture is darker then I wanted.
Now this Thaine is a wip and I think I'm going to change his head. Both arms and head do have magnets.
This one came out dark also
I'm going to try and finish up the dread, then the leviathan.
Im updateing this from my phone so I hope there arent any problems.

With 8th out and rules from Forgeworld I'm dusting off my old DKoK. Im adding to the Army, but i'll also be stripping the paint off of my old models and redoing the paint scheme.
Here are some Grenadiers I've started on.
Now i'm still working on the scheme, and I haven't figured out what I want on the weapons yet. You'll also see spots that I need to touch up on, which ill be doing once I figure out the full scheme I want.
Here is the start for one of my tanks, I like magnets, so i made it possible to change the Tank commander out.
I plan on having him look through his Binos.
Here's the other commander for now. I also have the Commissar TC already magnetized, but he's sitting in a bucket of Simple green.
I also picked up 5 of these guys, I'm excited to add them to the army.

Group shot, I'm aiming for a Muddy theme, which is also inspired by DoubleT and his DKoK army
So when adding the Mud to this tank, I had looked back on my experiences of washing mud off of tanks. So i added mud to every spot that looks like a huge pain in the to clean.
