I'll be using this thread to update tabletop painting tutorials I'm writing for the Orc Starter Set, with the Army Painter Greenskins Paint Set. The BGG KoW forum doesn't have much activity, so I'll use it to file away my various tutorials. The tutorials are aimed towards new painters who wish to paint the models for tabletop gaming.

I like this, you're doing a good job and a good service. What's your plan for basing the orcs? Individual bases and movement trays or multi bases? Most of my KoW armies consist of GW and Reaper minis so I've done a mix of basing.

I'll be using the square bases from the starter set, using the Army Painter Battlefields Basing Set : http://www.miniaturemarket.com/amyst5114.html
Here's a close-up of the bases from another blog. : http://brownk29.blogspot.com/2011/11/mantic-zombies-part-1.html
Updates in the arms with weapons, and arms with shields threads.
Just for fun, here're a coupla guys with arms, heads, and bodies assembled. Still need to write up the body painting tutorial. Yes, that's a Reaper Bones Star Spawn in the background!

Looking nice indeed. The dark, oily scheme appeals to me very much. I love the Mantic orcs' shoulder pads detail (also the one on the armour of the great ax guys).

I really like the detail on the heads, arms, and armor too, although the backs of their bodies are kinda vague.
Dark and oily (or at least oily!) comes from the Army Painter brown Strong Tone Ink. They need to sell this by the pint, but, if you buy the Army Painter Quickshade Ink set, you can also use the brown Soft Tone Ink for tabletop.
Added a thread for painting the bodies, as well as updates on orc heads, orc arms with weapons, and orc arms with shields on the BGG Kings of War forum: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/85204/kings-war/forums/0

Very nice ced1106! I just got into Kings of War starting with Orcs, this tutorial will be very useful when I get my orcs.

I have the Valejo equivalent and yes - I have it by the bucket . It is my most used shading paint.

Finally got the gore (boars) painted. I would paint them after doing all the orc figures. I found the skin and fur a little more difficult to paint than orc skin, because of the larger area and because, I think, it's harder to paint something realistic.

Probably! Depends how they actually look on the table. Still have plenty of sprues to get through!

What comes in the Greenskins paint set from Army Painter? Looking at their site does not give any actual description....

Well, dang! I found this pic on a seller in the Netherlands! Also including the Starter Set to be complete (pics kinda larger, so keeping it in a spoiler). Thanks for pointing this out!

Are you going to be doing this for other factions also? These are so helpful to beginners.

I have the Undead Army starter set, so will paint that next. No plans to paint any more factions, but, if the undead army takes as long as the orc, who knows. Thanks again for the support!
