Thought I'd attempt to make an Elven chariot unit sort of custom. Wanted to save $ and wasn't too excited about the Mantic Elven chariots.

I chose a more 'traditional' Egyptian style chariot and as for how they were manned, I went for a bit of the Briton Style of charioteering with a guy balancing on the front to add a bit o drama to the unit. A bit of Legolas style fighting.

Sorry for the sub-par pics and unpainted minis. but just finished them and wanted to share and get some input.

That's the way chariots were actually used by the Celts.

Given that the helmets used by Mantic's elves are likewise of Celtic design, it fits.

The Auld Grump - not saying that it was sane, mind, just that it is the way my ancestors used to ride the things....

Well if that's the way the Celts did it, then sure!

However, someone needs to go tell the Celts I'm not sold on their chariot combat methods

If it makes you feel better, then picture them yelling 'Yee-ha!' or 'Kowabunga!' every time they hit a bump....

The Auld Grump - pretty sure they actually did something similar - chariots were a way of saying 'I'm rich, and I'm fast!'

Who makes the chariot?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
