Castles in the Sky Battle report....

Castles in The Sky is a game of ponderous warships of the air; battling on the edges of empire after the Martian Invasion of the 1880s. The destruction of the Martian menace by microbes left a number of tripods available to be studied. From these war machines, great leaps forward in technology were made including the Air Screw. From these discoveries the great nations of the world built a new kind of war machine; the airship.

Interesting looking game, just need to add in sailing ships and I could play Skies of Arcadia tabletop! Just gotta change some fluff around a bit and bingo!

Also would be a nice way to actually give my Leviathan models an actual rule set to play with that is balanced (from the few games I played, Leviathan was pretty one sided).

Enjoyed the story of how it all gets explained in the end, a nice little bit of fluff to wrap it all up.

For those of you following at home, i made a slight tweak to Air Torpedoes so now they can engage targets up to +/-3 altitude bands different than the firing ship. This expands the engagement envelope a bit, gives a niche for air torpedoes, but still keeps the focus on the big guns.

I also clarified the friction rules a bit. I think the Italians are itching for a re-match with their Austro-Hungarian counter-parts.

For those interested I am gearing up for a Castles in the Sky campaign on my blog. I plan on setting it during the Balkan Uprisings of 1912/13. It will pit the Balkan League Allies against the Ottoman Alliance.

For those interested, a fellow wargamer made some great resources for this game such as markers, templates, record sheets, etc.
