With the exception of tidbits in the Bretonnia army books, and a little from Dogs of War, Tomb Kings, an army list from Warmaster, and -1- significant character from GW's Dreadfleet game... we often don't hear too much about Araby....beyond that lovely fan book put together so many years back...

But i've always wondered if the Black Library ever put out something that dealt with either someone who has traveled extensively in Araby, or is set in the location itself.

It -has- happened before, now that i reach back in my memory thinking about Genevieve Dieudonné novels having bits and pieces to say about Nippon of all places!

So can anyone think of any comic, fiction novel, or one of GWs various games that had an inkling of Araby in it?

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Not to my knowledge, you've listed all the primary sources I've seen. Outside of out of print short stories and Elf stuff I have every WHF and Time of Legends novel published, and beyond occasional offhand mentions I don't recall them featuring at all.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

That's.....very disappointing

Araby is the only other major human civilization within striking distance of the Old World....... Places like Cathay and Ind are too far.. And Lustria is....a mess..

I would have htought there would have been something, given the fact that there was a Jyhad-ish invasion of Estalia and a Crusade-ish invasion of Araby...

Got really excited for a second when i saw this link -> http://ask.fm/JoshMReynolds/answers/126607860959

Given the number of names of heroes, i thought perhaps i must have missed a novel or something, since i only recognized the Golden Magus due to Dreadfleet.....

Hmm, no idea I'm afraid. The blurb there(and the one it links to) mentions Gilead though, Abnett's pair of Elf books, so those might be something to look into(fair warning, by all accounts the second novel is atrocious by Dan's usual standards).

Well the blog belongs to the writer Josh Reynolds, and as you can see from googling him, he's an old hand around Warhammer Fiction, EndTimes stuff.

The other blurb it links to speaks about other characters i recall seeing - Genevieve, Gilead, heck even Al-Muktar from Dogs of War.

I just wish i knew where he was pulling all those names from for his Araby blurb. The Golden Magus is a Dreadfleet reference, Jaffar is the historical Sultan of All Araby who invaded Estalia.

The rest seem like... Arabian Nights exports - the Prince of Theives like an Ali Baba/Aladdin type, Sinbad from Sinbad the Sailor, Jasmine sounds oddly like the Jasmine from the Disney version of Aladdin, and Malik like the old legends about the Old Man of the Mountain, the leader of the historical assassin cult...

Ah well - maybe i need to read over my Warmaster rules and i'll see them as special characters.

Guess i'll also never get my question answered about how Magic from Araby works. I've seen references to the usage of Djinn (are Djinn Chaos aligned? Is this like Magnus' Thousand Sun Spell Familiars?) to perform feats and acts of sorcery i wonder if that was their way of getting around the use of magic without the guidance of Teclis splitting it into distinct schools....

I think that the Orfeo trilogy was told from an Arabian cell, with the beginnings and endings of each book giving some insight as Orfeo talks to his captor (with his tales forming the stories, set elsewhere). Not much, but it's the best I can think of, and decent reads as well.

Grab a fan-made supplement for Araby, made for WFRP 2nd edition. Altough it is fan made, it contains almost every scrap of official material about Araby. Good stuff.

Cardiff, U.K.

There was a Khemri expansion to Mordheim that was in the Mordheim magazine, Town Cryer, and that included an Araby warband. I'll have a look to see if I can find it and sum up the info on Araby!

There's also The Voyage South by Nicola Griffith. While the protagonist is Bretonnian and she travels downriver to the sea off Estalua, there's an Arabian Sea captain and his daughters who show up later.
