Ah good old Revan

A pox on Lucas. His final act was to bar him from canon, and for no reason other than spite and his bonkers makes no sense idea of how the Force should work

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Meh, I'm much less enamoured of Revan these days after what Bioware have done to him in TOR.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Meh, no idea what it is meant to be.

Good riddance to the drosspile that was the EU.
Long live the LSG continuity.

It's a statue of Darth Revan, the main character from the first Knights of the Old Republic game and one of the coolest and most popular EU characters since Mara Jade... Up until SWTOR anyway. Lots of people got understandably annoyed when Revan started acting like a whiny child instead of a bad ass. He was made major in the old EU during the books about Darth Bane where it was revealed that Revan's teachings inspired the Rule of Two.

He was nearly made canon (slated to appear as a Sith spirit in season 3 of Clone Wars, but Lucas blocked the appearance and replaced him with Darth Bane).

Considering your advanced years, that's not surprising

He's from Knights of the Old Republic, the RPG from Bioware back in the early 2000's (not to be confused with their MMORPG, The Old Republic). He's rather popular because he was actually a well done character and there was a neat twist in the game regarding his identity.

I don't know he fought the Sith Emperor for decades mentally and then almost destroyed the Empire and the Republic. Took 16 people just to bring him down and technically still isn't dead as he became a Force Spirit.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I will never understand what people see ... saw? in Mara Sue Jade. I mean, right from the beginning, reading Heir to the Empire when it was first released as a fething kid I remember rolling my eyes at this ridiculous character - and I was even dumb enough to think Thrawn was cool in those days lol.

As for Revan ... well, I have a soft spot for hom considering he was. ... well, me after all ... in my many playthroughs of my beloved KotOR. But oh jeez what a special, special snowflake he has become ...

The entire Star Wars universe is basically populated by Sues in my book, so being one isn't actually a draw back. Nature of the beast and all that XD

And she was fun.

I feel much the same. I like the character and I thought Revan was a decent book to bridge his character between KotOR and SWTOR, but how SWTOR ultimately handled him was... Meh. When a universe is basically populated by sues to begin with, it takes some serious sueness to somehow become that special and Revan simply became a bit over the top in specialness even by the standards of the universe he lives in.

This is actually one of the reasons I like Kylo Ren - he's a great parody of EU characters' marysu-ality. He wants to be this tremendous badass but you know it just doesn't come off so he ends up more like a method acting cosplayer.

Bane was S6 - the yoda madness-lies-that-way arc? the burny statue dead-god-thing. On moriband?

As for me, the only old RPG for star wars was the West End Games one. The one that BEGAT most of the novel EU. RPGs don't happen on/vs computer. They are p&p, IRL and F2F, a group of nerds around a table tossing bon mots back and forth whilst engaging in "let's pretend". Not the clicky-clacky and "pwnzor" of the computer game.

The one that Pablo Hidalgo was writing for long before he became one of the trinity in the LSG. (and the game that the LSG and much of the TCW crew were fans of). The game that even got Tim Zahn to write the sourcebook for his Thrawn series. The game that's been superior to ALL of the successors to it.

:p

No I got confused XD

Revan was supposed to appear in the three parter in season 3 with Father, the Son, and the Daughter as a spirit the Son talked to. Preliminary work was done on a 3D model before that plot element was axed.
