I have a Sisters of Battle list that I've had mixed results with and need help deciding how to change it! Wargear and special weapons are generally interchangeable, so I don't really need advice on them, and I'm sticking to a pure Sororitas list for now, until I become rich enough to waste money on repentia and flagellants and other things that I'm not totally in love with. What I do need help with is deciding the units that the army will have- whether I bone up on even more transports or try branching out...
The list I have used has generally been:
Canoness- Jump packer to fly around and tank hunt/assault
4x Battle Sister Rhinos- Generally with Heavy flamer/melta and VSS with bolter, book of st. lucius
2x 8 girl seraphim squad- 1 inferno pistol, 1 twin flamer, VSS with bolt pistols
9 girl Retributors- 4 heavy bolters, VSS with bolter
2 Exorcists
This list has had some amazing victories, but tends to be fairly fragile. When my opponent gets unlucky and my transports mostly live, he's got no chance, with battle sisters at their deadlist range and phim tying him up in combat. Exorcists help this by attracting enemy fire, since most people fear D6 missiles more than they fear 16 bolter shots + flamer + melta with Divine Guidance... Hehe.
Anyway, when the army gets its mobility shot out from under it, it's useless. I used to like phim because they can't have their mobility removed, but they're just not sturdy enough to carry the battle on their own. And truth be told, they're just as reliant on rhinos as anyone, since if they ever fly out from behind the tanks they get shot to hell. I've thought about solving the problem by going back to a footslogger horde, but I really didn't like that army style. Deployment filled up my entire zone so I couldn't do much in terms of tactics, and mobile armies would toy with my poor girlies. Also, exorcists would die instantly being the only tanks on the field.
The other solution is to improve the mobility of the army by taking even more tanks. My current thinking is to eliminate the retributors and seraphim and get 2 rhinos and a heavy support immolator, as well as a jump packing palatine to accompany my canoness. This appeals to me because I think I can scrounge up enough money for it, and it adds 50% more transport rushing to the list, making it that much more difficult to take out my mobility before I get to my deadly range. Also, I've been looking to scrap the retributors because in the past 10 or so games they've done nothing but eat dirt- they don't really fit in a mobile transport list, since they attract all the stray anti troop fire and assaults. Comments? Is there another way to go that I've overlooked for improving the survivability of my mobile shooty army?
EDIT: Sorry for the initial lack of formatting, I use Opera which doesn't like the chat client here I guess :x
