Dakka is switching to a fully HTTPS website today, and as a result there will be things that break or are broken. Please post anything Dakka that worked on the 25th Jan or earlier, but has stopped working since here and I'll add to the fix list.

Ah, that might explain it. Dakka - with the new https leader - won't load for me at all on one browser (surfy browser) and the browser I'm on now (samsung/android native) threw up a 'not secure' warning before I could get to it. There's a wee open padlock on the address bar, and it's telling me 'The identity of this website has not been verified - server's certificate is not verified'.

I'm getting the "This connection is not secure" on Firefox, for any thread with images/video or where someone with an IMG signature has posted.

I should add that this has only started in the past hour. As of 7-8am Eastern, it was fine.

Getting a security alert in chrome for Android, warning me the site is not secure, specifically it was giving off a cert authority invalid.

No issues on chrome from windows.

Most of these are down to youtube trying to load over http - a bug for which the fix is going live in just a moment.

Any more cert authority invalid errors on android for anyone or is that fixed now?

Most bugs seem to be squashed now. Keep reporting if you come across any bad errors along with your browser version and browsing device

Still seeing "connection is not secure" on Firefox desktop. It looks like it might be tied to animated .gifs as avatars?

is it blocking your ability to load the page and giving a prompt, or just the padlock being grey with a warning symbol on it? If the latter, I cannot do anything about that as there are countless places where people have embedded non-secure images in threads, and will continue to do so. If the former, please link to some specific pages.

Avatars are all loading by secure connection now, as are embedded gallery images.

It's padlock being grey with a warning symbol on it, but I'm only noticing it in certain threads. I'm kinda/sorta hunting examples on both my phone(Android running whatever browser is standard on it) and my desktop.

I think I've narrowed it down to possibly being something tied to ads that are being blocked by AdBlockPlus, certain animated avatars/signatures, or something of that nature. It's not triggering any serious security warnings so I don't think it's anything big...but just thought I should make a note of it. Sorry if it's being pesty!

That's expected behaviour now, it is down to embedded signature images and images in threads. Adverts and avatars should not be causing that anymore. Nothing I can stop without blocking the embedding of external images and not a show stopper. Thanks for reporting though.

Alrighty then.

Interesting to note that it seems to be very random though. The Gathering Storm II thread just went from being "Secure" to "Unsecure" after Kronk posted, and his sig is linked from Dakka it seems.

he (and many others) need to update their signatures to have https instead of http at the start of URLs to make the security warning go away. Browsing with sigs disabled would have the same result too. It has no impact on security or browsing so is a non-issue beyond the padlock not looking as cool anyway

I'm guessing this is a bug... while on the main page, clicking on a picture on the Dakka Blog just brings me back to the main page.

I think that's related to my current problem. Some embedded images are showing up for me and some, I don't even realise that the poster posted them. Not even a 'broken link' image. After Kid Kyoto pointed out the lack of 'http' in my own image links, I checked out a few of these other posts and the urls of the images I can see start off with 'https', while the no-shows start with 'http'.

I'm not sure what to make of it. I'd assume all embedded image urls need that extra 's' now, but judging by comments, other posters can see them fine. Maybe it's some kind of security related bug in my browser, like Kanluwen's problem, but I've no idea.

(Again, Surfy: android version of an obscure little browser that I just started using, that worked for me - didn't have anywhere near the amount of initial bugs as Firefox or Dolphin. I guess I'm finding them now, though! )

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

I noticed some broken pic links in my blog to the gallery. Older stuff was fine, newer stuff is fine, but it looks like stuff posted on/about the 25 was broken. One of the posts was automatically appended, so I’m not sure when exactly.

Just going back and sticking a “s” after the “http” fixes it

The appended part of this post, and the next one were the ones affected.

When adding new pictures to my gallery, I attempted to add a webpage (the page they would appear on in my blog), and it wouldn't accept the https header. It would only accept the link when I removed the 's'.

When you quote a post that has spoilers, it seems to mess up the quote now.

For example:

Poster A says something cool
Poster B quotes Poster A, but adds a spoiler to Poster A's text due to length
Poster C quotes the entirety of Poster B's post. In the post preview, all looks to be well, but when the message is actually posted, Poster B's text ends up outside the quote tags (so it looks like it is Poster C's text - even though it doesn't show up this way in the post preview, even when editing it again later)

Hope this makes sense, I can link to an example post later if helpful

Links on the home page in the Dakka blog feed don't seem to be properly redirecting to the linked content. Clicking them routes you back to the home page. Observed this happening for both forum posts and images.
