Be better if the people who vote also provide a comment -- it is a discussion board after all.

Ideally those who vote would be those who've read/bought the magazine, but we can't really enforce that so keep your internet poll broomstick of skepticalness ... ? ? ..... or whatever to hand when reviewing the results.

be extra handy if you could say which bits you really did/didn't like, what you'd like tweaked or added and so forth.

ta

.... You all better have voted for the crates too !

***Long post warning***: February’s subscriber copies of White Dwarf are on the move today, so we thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about all the stuff that happens to get your copy to you by launch day. After printing we dispatch copies to our warehouses and to specialist distribution companies in New York (for the US), Montreal (Canada), Sydney (Australia & New Zealand), Tokyo (Japan), the Netherlands (Continental Europe) and the UK (UK and the rest of the world). They pack, label and sort the issues according to local requirements and then the packages are all dropped into local postal systems on the Friday before the official release date (so today, for the February issue). The copies begin to move through the system over the weekend and drop through letterboxes from the following Monday morning.
National postal systems (such as the USPS, Royal Mail and PostNL) are one of the wonders of the modern world. They deliver virtually everywhere; are really cost effective (compared to the alternatives) and reliable (in any given month, we send out far fewer than 1% replacement copies). The only thing they are not always, is consistent or predictable in their timing. The moving parts that make postal systems work are so unbelievably complex that they can occasionally surprise you by their speed and variability (three days to Stockholm, Sweden; six days to Stockwell, London).
We aim to get copies to the vast majority of subscribers by launch day, but there’s a limit on how early we can begin to post the magazine because of this variability, so after many years of subscription mailing experience and balancing the various global reach, cost and reliability factors, we are currently doing a single global postage day from multiple locations around the world. Which brings us back to the beginning of this post – February’s White Dwarf is on its way!
TL;DR: If you are a subscriber, your February subscription copy was dispatched today and over 95% of all customers should receive it between Monday & Friday next week. If you don’t receive yours by the Wednesday after release, please contact your local customer service team and we’ll send you a replacement copy immediately – you can find their contact details on our website (games-workshop.com).

I think you need to wait a week before making these posts. Unless you are trolling on purpose. I am sure this is not the case but what a slap in the face this is for people who have subscriptions and can't participate because they get their copy late.

I am so glad I never bought the subscription. The 3 or 4 free issues is not worth the aggravation having to wait days or weeks after everyone else got their copy by going to their store and getting a copy.

Thanks for the extra blurb Red, the mention of PostNL doing the deliveries around here has given me enough hope to maybe get a subscription again, as back in the day it was handled by the competition and led to many a mag either not arriving or arriving shredded.

10/10 for me this month.

Jes Goodwin's designer notes are mind blowing. The guy is so intelligent when it comes to aesthetics and design - his sketch of the Aeldari red guy is one of the best peices of 40k art ever.

Fun battle report that gives lots of insight into the upcoming Stormcast Release. Seems their army wide battle-trait will be lightening deployment. Warrior Brotherhood for all!!

Another great 'Eavy Metal master class. This is going to be really useful for any sort of NMM sword.

Blanchitsu was expanded upon and a fantastic read. Great interviews to explain the themes in the Pilgrymme Warbands and it is always a treat to see a true scale space marine in White Dwarf.

Great to see Stahly's models in the spotlight. I have been a big fan of his painting for a long time!

Still lots more content to read through. I find the new Eldar direction to be facinating. The terrain article looks really good too, makes me want to go to town on a Wyldwood like the ones shown, and the container examples will be very useful.

Top stuff!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I agree with Davor, & not just because people may not have received their issue yet, but even those that have, may like to take their time reading it before deciding on what rating they think it deserves. Also, "broomstick of skepticism."

You get the Tzaangor Shaman hero card to use as a hero, and you get rules for Tzaangor Enlighted and Tzaangor Skyfires to use as exotic adversaries. :-)

Pretty good.

More than 'just an advert', and the extra rules continuing is most definitely welcome.

So let me guess (picking up my copy this weekend), Matt Hutson's Sylvaneth dominates the Tale of 4 Warlords and wins undefeated, because Sylvaneth are "fair and balanced" for sure.

Does the Shaman suffer a crisis of faith if he finds himself fighting his fellow fine feathered finks?

Is the February issue of White Dwarf the one with more Silver Tower rules or Age of Sigmar rules or is that March's edition?

There are rules in the February white dwarf. They usually get posted on the community site eventually if you don't want to buy the magazine.

MIdrange issue for me. I liked the paint section and the 4 Warlords. Didn't like the battle report, possibly because they used "narrative" style but didn't talk at all about what guidelines they used for building the armies that I saw (whether or not they use points, I want to see some freaking insight to how they actually build armies, so when pitching something other than Matched Play you have some sort of template to follow). The rest was okay, nothing too great, but nothing awful either.

I enjoyed most of it, especially the quite in-depth Gathering Storm II articles and the Terra-focused Illuminations (with interesting background info), the hobby section, Blanchitsu and the extra rules. I think this was a 9. Comparing it with the other new White Dwarfs it is the best issue so far.

I havent read much of the AoS parts because I dont play it, but the battle report was at least informative and showed the new army in detail. Even as an outsider I could understand what happened.

I would like them to write more longstanding, in-depth articles again similiar to Index Astartes, instead of the shiny of the month forgettable stuff that WD was made of a few years ago. I keep all WD magazines and appreciate being able to read articles that had no use for me at the time but when I get to play the games or start a new army. Back when Necromunda came out I was bored of GW's red and flashy period, everything looked like toys, so I ignored most of Necromunda and its WD articles. Today I'm happy I kept the magazines so I have a complete collection of those articles and we can use them in our Necromunda games - which who would have tought is actually a really nice campaign-based skirmisher. First impression and all that...

I hope WD will focus more on these accompanying type of articles in the future. With proper content.

This was my first issue of the magazine and I was really impressed. A lot of good inspiration for my painting (what I primarily do since I don't know anybody who is willing to help me learn how to play) and some really nice articles. I like seeing the battle report as hopefully from that I can learn a little bit about how to play. Would love to see a miniature included as was done some in the past.

In this issue it claims that you can download the Tzaangor and Kairic Acolyte paint guides (from a previous issue) for free from Black Library, but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know where these can be found?

10/10 for the Jes Goodwin stuff. His notes and sketches a high point.

4/10 for the rest - but I have not much in the way of interest in how their games are played these days (I do still like Jes' sculpting and art, though).

You never do see quicksand in TV shows anymore. Back in the day I think even the Brady Bunch had to face that menace.

It would be a cool menace for Dr Who, except in his case it would be Hyper Quick Sand which is so quick it actually drowns you before you step in it, making it the perfect tool for assassinating a rival and starting an intergalactic war.

Quicksand, the silent menace, responsible for 4/10 hobbyist fatalities. You should thank KK for his public safety reminders.
