Photo quality, lighting and backdrop aside, I need some constructive criticism. Though certainly feel free to give me pointers there too! What can I do to improve on what I've got? I plan on adding some algae around the edge of the waterline. Suggestions? Also, what would you expect to pay for a piece of terrain finished to this standard? I'm looking to start up a little side buesiness. It's roughly 12" wide, 24" long and 8" high. Thanks for any and all advice!

Interesting. I like the rock texture, it looks quite natural.

One thing that I'm not sure about - and this is more speculation and "gut feeling" than any sort of informed opinion - is that the distribution of green areas looks a bit haphazard, if that makes sense? Like, there's very thick spots of green that have no greenery around them, and don't necessarily seem to have any logical reason for their positioning?

I think you've mainly applied the greenery to the flat horizontal areas, but in nature I suspect that you'd get more greenery in cracks and crevices where soil and water collect (and they are less exposed to wind and passing animals), and just generally all around the water. Well, I'm not an expert or anything, but I suspect that having a more gentle distribution of greenery that's denser closer to the water (rather than the individual thick patches that don't really seem to be hugging the water) might look a bit better?

On the above comment put a few bits of clump foliage in those spots so they dont just look like little patches of grass, maybe a small tree starting to grow or a few weeds pioneered an area and caught loose gravel and made a space susceptible to additional growth

The rock textures are very well done! I've climbed around on rock with pools like that.

one thought i had: rocks i've seen like that often also have lichen on them. i'm not sure how feasable it is, but some tans and oranges might help balance out the strong green.

i can't help with the price stuff i'm afraid, i'm no good at that sort of thing.

Its very pretty, but given the large size of the piece, there does not seem to be much in the way of places figures can stand.

Brilliant rock texture and shaping! More an obstacle/ LOS blocker than anything tactical though? My only criticism is the shade of green for the flock, a bit too dark and blueish for me. Other than that- kickass!

Id second the grass texture, one problem with monotone flocking is it can make the eye read it as "fake" looking even when naturally placed, if you took 2 lighter shades and place some around where it would be dryer and keep the darkest to the moist shaded areas itll bring it to life. Your rock texture looks great!

Thanks for all the feedback! I've ended up making some changes to the piece. The photo quality is still pretty rough. I've got to figure out a better lighting situation and get a better handle on the angles I want to photograph from! I've added a little more color to the rock, and changed up the foliage as suggested. I've also added a bit of muck to the water. I think it helps a bit? I'm still finding my legs with this terrain stuff, but I'm pretty pleased with it as a first piece. As for the pricing, (if I end up trying to sale it) I'll try to find things comparable on Etsy or Ebay, and base my pricing off of that! As for the comments about model placement, you're totally right! there are some spots models can stand, but it'll certainly count as difficult terrain, haha.

Looks good to me - great old school stuff and nice effects. Why such rectangular edges though? Makes it hard to blend into a table.

Ehh, honestly those were some of the first piece I actually made but some of the last I took pics of. I've since learned from the mistake. Those hard angles work great for urban terrain, not the natural stuff though.

Just finished up some stuff for a client who's opening a game store next week! Hopefully I can ship this stuff for less than $20 haha.

Been a while since I posted anything in this thread. I really do need to stay on top of things. Anyways, this is a urethane casting of terrain piece I sculpted a couple of months ago. I finally managed to finish the mold of the original plaster mountain last week. With any luck, the mold will hold up through quite a few castings. I'm going to need to sell quite a few of them to pay for the cost of the silicone and urethane resin The mountain is roughly 16"x13"10" tall.

That's a pretty nice hill; fairly natural looking but with flat areas that minis can stand on. I'm wondering if flattening the top a bit (so something could stand on the very top) might have worked; not sure if it would have looked as good or not.

These are great! Really convincing and natural, with a good variety of foliage and watery areas. A big thumbs up to the casted mountain, that would have been quite an effort setting up all of it! Is it hollow inside?

I thought about having a flat top. Plateaus are fairly common in nature (certainly in tabletop games). I haven't seen many peaks on the tabletop, so I decided to go with that!

Yes, it's hollow. It weighs around a kilo and cost around $12USD for me to cast. If I cast it solid, it would have been around 5Kg and cost me close to $60.

Been quite a while since I've posted anything here. I'm trying to get better about that, but we'll see, haha. Here's a set of six 2'x2' tiles, plus some terrain I just finished up! I need to figure out a better place than EBAY. I can't really fault them for their fees but they really do drive up the cost!
