Subject: Dakka (Unofficial) Painting Challenge Round 24 February 2017: We Have The Technology
Welcome all to the 24th round of the Unofficial Painting Challenge here on Dakka. This month marks the final round in the 2016/17 rotation, the last chance to nab some points before the scores are counted! For anyone who's unfamiliar with the format, this is a simple community challenge open to anyone on Dakka, the aim of the game being to paint a model or set of models relating to the month's theme and win points for doing so!
This month's theme is Technology, so the entries we're looking for are models with particularly advanced gear or expertise in the context of their setting. This could range from a Dwarven engineer atop a mechanical monstrosity to a Tau Commander toting the latest experimental weaponry As ever, the theme is totally open to interpretation, so if you think it's a suitable entry, it probably is!
How To Enter
- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 5 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them. For example, a collage of 4 images and one separate image would count as your 5 picture allowance.
So What Do I Win?
- Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month! Following the vote, points will be awarded to every entrant. This year, the Points you receive will be equal to the Percentage of Votes your entry receives in the final Voting thread; if you get 10%, you get 10 points, if you get 6% you get 6 points, so on and so forth.
These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in.
How Long Do I Have?
This challenge begins 1st February and will end at midnight GMT on the 28th February. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.
After my old Farsight model wasn't particularly salvageable for last month's "Rogues and Scoundrels" I decided I would make a new Farsight from the standard commander set! So here he is, somewhat bigger than his finecast iteration! Can't wait to see what everyone enters this month
I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up
Hobby addict with a serious problem.

Unusual enough to say others wouldn't have this tech?
@Moolet: Love the battlewagon. Looking forward to see what you do with it!

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts
I'm in with a Tau Riptide Battlesuit:
It's pretty advanced technology, even for the Tau. I just hope I can knock it out in a month without RL smacking me down again.
My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

So, think I want to finally get around to painting some Brushfire stuff, so for this month: two gopher engineers, with the latest in body armor and high explosive technology. Good for use on moose and squirrel!

Loving this regular challenge to focus my scattered concentration!
Not sure this month - I've built both of these as a possibility...
...Tau battlesuit has longer legs and torso, narrower jump-pack and experimental weaponry, whilst the daemonette has found some extra armour, sword, splinter-pistol...and opposable thumbs!

Gonna see if I can't fabricate and paint a rhino in less then a month.
Old Terran Rhino-cause the techno-barbarians have the technology.
My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

(stays the executioner's blade) No worries. Paradigm has the rules up top of the thread. It's just a motivational feature/challenge to get people painting more models.

oh allright then...s'pose I'd better enter something (I had something vaguely planned for every possible category aside from this one! grr!)...just remembered I had some Infinity stuff sitting around primed for nearly a year now - I know/remember very little about infinity now so I actually had to check what these things are called ...it's a "Lunokhod Sputnik" and two "Crazy Koalas"...they're remote-controlled robot drone thingies, from the Nomads faction...seems fitting for "We have the technology" yeah?
man there's so much tiiiny detail on these Infinity models...they're bloody gorgeous though, I'm just terrified of painting them - that's why they've been sitting around for nearly a year
...hmm, come to think of it, there's actually a couple more models I could do that would kinda go with those three...meh, I'll just try to get those three done for now, and if I have time, I'll add the other two later
...it's good to be green!

Alright, I'm going to enter this as since getting back into the hobby nearly half a year ago I haven't painted anything. I've going to en my converted Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun, hoping to finish some little conversion touchups tomorrow and start painting next week.
He does, indeed, have the technology, but is also very environmentally conscious. Not only does his Wind-Spinna generate the copious amounts of energy to power his renewable vegan friendly Shokk Attack Gun but it can also be recycled to be used as a Spinna-Choppa so all the limbs of stoopid humies can be used to create compost for his own potent supply of squigijuana.
