So our regional is at the end of the month and I am unsure of what to fly (like always seemingly).

My current thought is;
Asajj Ventress — Lancer-class Pursuit Craft 37
Push the Limit 3
Latts Razzi 2
Ship Total: 42

N'Dru Suhlak — Z-95 Headhunter 17
Deadeye 1
Cluster Missiles 4
Scavenger Crane 2
Ship Total: 24

Trandoshan Slaver — YV-666 29
Zuckuss 1
Dengar 3
4-LOM 1
Ship Total: 34

This is mainly cause I love flying the bus and N'Dru but am wondering if I should go for something completely different, not sure how well this will stand up to tripD.

Thoughts? Advice?

It wasn't a Regional, but I paired Asajj with Dengar, and it stood up quite well to Triple Defender. 100-24 (or was it 27?) in the final match.

I'm just thinking about how probable it is for N'Dru to get to use his crane, and the tons of fire the bus is bound to attract. Remember, MoV is as important as winning the match.

Good points, playing around on squad builder I came up with the following, wonder if this would work out as I am sure no one would expect it;

Dengar — JumpMaster 5000 33
Predator 3
Zuckuss 1
R4 Agromech 2
Punishing One 12
Ship Total: 51

Old Teroch — Protectorate Starfighter 26
Veteran Instincts 1
Ship Total: 27

N'Dru Suhlak — Z-95 Headhunter 17
Veteran Instincts 1
Cluster Missiles 4
Guidance Chips 0
Ship Total: 22

If you want to save a few points on Dengar, give him Wired instead of Predator. Sure, on the odd roll you won't reroll anything, but sometimes you'll be able to reroll more dice.

Plus if you are banking on PS9 to save your bacon, a bid helps.

For Scum I think a fairly decent list is the Mindlink Manaroo/Ventress/Fenn Rau list, yes it can be exploited but its just a really solid list against most things, although a dedicated all stress all the time list might hurt

Now that's a nasty idea... cause what, maybe 1 turn per game he isn't stressed?

I have never considered Wired before (I don't own any TFA stuff), will have a look at it as well as dropping the Agromech for an unhinged. Will give three points to either spend elsewhere or for bid.

Gonna try out all three lists (mindlink one as well) over the next week and see what suits best.

How do people run the mindlink list? Think those three ships are 95pts without any other upgrades. Not sure I want to get another JM5000 though.

My personal build for Dengar is this:

Wired
R5-P8
Zuckuss
Punishing One
Countermeasures

It's a hefty 53 points, and you can probably shave the Countermeasures off, but I keep them because OLeader is a PITA and Vessery cries when you use it.

But with this setup, you get a few actions at first, I usually fly parallel to the enemy on the first pass and then Sloop on them. Then they have the option to just take your first shot which is coming anyway (giving you free stress to enable Wired for the next few turns) and then either fire and get the revenge bot and the revenge shot, or a mix of them, all while depleting their tokens... or just not firing.

And when your opponent is not rolling red dice, you're on your way to winning big time. Because the best green dice are those you never need to roll.

And I'll say this about Asajj. She might be a less cool Manaroo, but she can punch through a Defender on her own.

Played five practice games tonight, ended up running the following;

Dengar — JumpMaster 5000 33
Predator 3
Zuckuss 1
Unhinged Astromech 1
Punishing One 12
Ship Total: 50

N'Dru Suhlak — Z-95 Headhunter 17
Veteran Instincts 1
Cluster Missiles 4
Guidance Chips 0
Ship Total: 22

Old Teroch — Protectorate Starfighter 26
Veteran Instincts 1
Concord Dawn Protector 1
Ship Total: 28

Did try running Wired for three of the games but got little utility out of it. Found that the Astro is not worth it either so will drop it from the list.

Played against a double phantom list, Palp Acesx2 and trip aces x2. All games were convincing victories, lost Dengar in one game, N'Dru in three others. Pretty pleased with how things went, playing Teroch stuck like glue to Dengar was decisive.

Yeah, if you play Dengar with Zuckuss, an unhinged astro won't help much. And if yoh plan on jsing Wired, then you don't want its belp. If you won't use R5-P8, then the salvaged astromech might be an acceptable option. Or just leave it blank.

I can see the synergy between Dengar and Old Teroch. When it works, it mist be a nasty surprise.

My main advice for regionals is to settle on a list (at least for hulls and preferably pilots) as far ahead of time as possible and just practice, a lot.

Upgrades can be fiddled with until you have to submit your list, but knowing your dials and how to maneuver your ships together is probably the biggest part. That and develop a plan for as many possible enemy lists as you can. Figure out how to beat the Defender swarm (leader) with your list and how to deal with attani mindlink (among others).

And keep an eye on your points vs your opponent. In your matches, knowing what to get rid of first and what you can do to get to a victory in the final 15 minutes can really help.

Personally, I'd keep giving wired a shot. On offense (because your list doesn’t have manaroo or mindlink to give dengar focus) you've got the same chance to miss with a focus as a blank. And rerolls on defense (while lower than the odds of getting a blank) are hard to come by. But I'm operating from theory here and it may not work out.

^ This, a lot, my recent poor showing at my regional is a prime example of this, for one reason or another (Xmas, the getting winter germs etc) I hardly practiced and just took a sort of fall-back TLT list, and whilst I had a great time I had a couple of games where I felt if I had learnt the list (and dials) a bit better I could have at least broke even at 3-3 rather than the tragic 2-4 my day ended on

So I ended up going with;

Dengar, wired, Zuckuss, title.

Old Teroch, title, VI.

N'dru, VI, clusters, chips and 'Stim.

In my first match I played against Kath and two Ys and beat them in 12 minutes.

My second match I played against commonwealth defenders and got slaughtered. My opponent had the hottest streak of dice I have ever come across and I played poorly to boot.

Third match was against bus/manaroo/Rau (not mindlinked), I again got wiped out. I bumbed N'dru denying her alpha strike and flew poorly with the rest, mixed with not focusing my fire I barely scratched his paint.

Fourth match I had the best run of dice I have had for months pretty much every roll was a hit or crit. Unfortunately I was playing against a triple K bombing list and all those rolls I was making was for cluster bomb damage on my own ships! I think he caused a total of one damage with his guns. I have never played an all K list before and did not know they could slam and bomb. By the time I found out I was already slaughtered.

Fifth I played against my arch nemesis and alround bane of my existence, my brother. He was flying Soontir/Darth/Ryad and I cleared up pretty quick.

I came in 24th overall with my losses all coming against players who made the top 8. On the day as a whole I thought it was excellent, pretty much everyone I played against or talked to was really nice and friendly more so than any other competitive event I have been too. Me and my brother got given quite a few alt art cards as gifts from other players which was really nice of them and met the members of a local game group who we will be joining.

On the meta, this was not what I expected. There were an even mix of factions, only two mindlink lists, a few Palps, not that many defenders and a huge range of other stuff. One card I saw more than anything else was Expertise' which was everywhere.

The x/7 is stupidly broken, like really badly. Zuckuss is bad, x/7 is just bloody awful. Time to start playing defenders again!

I had the same thing at our Brisbane regionals the other weekend. some many variations of lists and not that many Defenders. the vast majority of the lists were Scum which i would rather entertaining.

It's actually funny that you mention that expertise was common, I was at a local tournament last night and every single list had expertise.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.
