So with the majority of it spoiled, what do people think are the strengths and weaknesses and where it fits in the 30k hierarchy overall?

For the sake of fun, take a tribune with shield, cyber and a paragon spear.
2+ save, 3++ rerollable save.
Eternal warrior.
S+1 AP2 attacks at all times (no charge bonus)

Throw him in a sentinel unit then laugh off most shooting.
Tank S10 or ID on him.

Yeah, I saw this guy mentioned elsewhere. You don't think that they will FAQ him?

What is there to FAQ though? It's over-powered but it's not like it is stretching the rules, it's very clear that you can do all of that. He's not impossible to kill, just incredibly hard to kill. Him and Valdor are basically the new Scoria's.

With those upgrades he isn't exactly on the cheap side.
245 or more of you wanna throw digi on him too.
Not including arae-shrike or DS gear.

By the time he's in a unit it's 500+

Taking the shield cuts down his damage output to tone it down as well.

Valdor on the other hand is a sheer beatstick.
I see him being in atleast 75% of talon lists.
Throw him with basic guard and they will plough through most things with ease.
Then throw in free transponders for everyone and happy days.

My main issue with the book is the custodes transport.
Pure assault army, no assault vehicle.

The sisters have access to one and don't get me wrong, they are solid.
But anyone running a custodes list won't get it.


Only other gripe is the dreads have no ability to DS or be transported.
So they are left running up the table.

The spear dread however could prove to be devastating.
Why anyone would leave the spear upgrade at home is beyond me.





If your not fussy about defence or AP2 though:

Shield captain with cyber, pair of talons, digi.
230 total.
8 S6 AP3 attacks on the charge, shred and master crafted.
2+ 4++ save.

In a ZM game I can see this army being totally beatstick especially if you advance with sentinels with guardians behind them and have a dread or two roaming around

Looks like a good list, but it is an army woefully short on numbers.
I still want to know what Misericordia is.
Still want to know what's up with jetbikes having a rule that lets them shoot with "each" of their guns when they only have one gun each, anyway.
And the grav transport is severely hamstrung without the Assault Vehicle rule.

Tannhauser42 - the numbers are a fairly big issue.
While they are massively resilient to most things, sheer numbers bring them down.
They do however benefit massively from sisters due to the new TSons rules.


The Misericordia rule is bugging me too as I can't find anything about it.
and jetbikes possibly have that for future use?
Currently it's the bikes weapon and grenades only for them.

I'm with you 100% on the transport though, it's a huge drawback.
Better off taking Valdor for the free transponders.
Same effect but army wide for 0 cost.

According to Garro on Facebook, the Misericordia is the name of the knifes on the sprew. So, basically CCWs.

I noticed Las-Lance in the ranged weapons which unit has them. The only Misericorde rule I can find is on the Assault Ram

The name of the Custodes rule, Misericordia, is not the same as the Assault Ram's rule, Misericorde.
