.... don't think Johnny Cash got used this much when he was alive.

Hollywood's ability to flog a dead horse for every last penny has now included them using necromancy to achieve this goal, and my admiration for this ability remains...
What's wrong with 1970s East German art-house instead of this?

Well I mean, it is kind of a theme for the series. Jack, Barbossa, and the crew of the pearl were cursed undead in the first movie.

I've enjoyed all the PotC movies so far, so I am cautiously optimistic about this one. Jack Sparrow is one of my favorite movie characters of all time!

Hoping this kind of tanks and the money people finally conclude Depp currently isn't worth that kind of money, and it dents his silly ego enough that he goes back to being a proper actor, which he is fully capable of, rather than repeatedly flogging Capt Jack the worlds most overpaid Panto Dame...

The curse got broken did it not? My memory of this is hazy, because I was sitting in the cinema at the time with a few cans of premium cider
So God knows what happened

Not at all excited for this. Didn't even know they made a third and fourth movie in this franchise.

I'd feel bad for Geoffery Rush if it tanks, and that's about it.
Regardless of its success, I think we'll be seeing Depp take any role he can take at this point:
Johnny Depp has parted ways with his longtime agent, Tracey Jacobs of U.T.A., citing financial concerns, reports Page Six, and has signed a new contract with rival agency C.A.A., which offered him a more favorable deal as he copes with the fallout from an ugly and very public divorce.
News of Depp’s move surfaced after other reports of Depp’s money struggles, including the news that he can no longer sustain his $2 million a month lifestyle.
In January, Depp sued his former management team, including the Management Group and 15 other defendants, for “gross misconduct,” claiming his business managers “collected tens of millions of dollars of contingent fees.” Depp is seeking $25 million in damages. Last week, the Management Group countersued Depp for living an “ultra-extravagant lifestyle that often knowingly cost Depp in excess of $2 million per month to maintain, which he simply could not afford.”
The business managers broke down Depp’s massive expenses, from the $30,000 a month he spends on wine to the millions he has spent on the upkeep of his 14 properties around the world, including a chateau in the south of France and horse farm in Kentucky. The Management Group reported that the total maintenance costs of these properties was more than $75 million over the course of 17 years.
After his highly publicized divorce from actress Amber Heard, Depp began to shed some of his pricey homes. He put his Venetian mansion on the market for $10.9 million in July and his compound in Plan De La Tour, France, was re-released on the market for $63 million in December. Depp’s French property first went on sale in 2015 for $25 million.
As for Depp’s split from U.T.A. and Jacobs, an inside source told Page Six, “Their relationship had run its course.”

Much more keen having seen that new trailer. As much as I love the first 3 PotC films, the first two trailers for this didn't really inspire much confidence, but this looks like it will be the same sort of fun that the earlier ones were. Even if some of those shots/scenes look a bit like a 'Greatest Hits' montage from the other films, I'm definitely on board for this one now.

Holy horrible photoshop, Batman. Look at the villain at 2:33 as he says his line. It looks like a bad cut & paste of the actor's face on an extra's body. It doesn't even match size or movement. It's like one of those parody videos you see on YouTube where the kids making the video paste their heads over an actor from a movie clip.
PLEASE let this be a rush job for the trailer and not something actually in the movie. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Uh, the trailer's only exactly 2:33 long...
