How do?

So we get our third Warhammerfest this year, May 27th and 28th, at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry

So far, I've bought a ticket for the Sunday - but some of my regular group are going for the weekend, and taking part in the Grand Tournament. So currently weighing up if I fancy that too.

But, what is Warhammerfest?

Well, it's somewhere between Games Day, and a Forgeworld Weekender. I've been to both the preceding ones, and found it well worth my while. For veterans of Games Days, this is a much more chilled, less densely packed event. There's more space to move around, and far fewer inconsiderate bellends insisting on wearing backpacks so massive that no-one can get past them to look at the fun stuff.

The talks and that I found more aimed toward established gamers - think FW painting tips. And of course, there's the ticket only seminars (if you're going, have a sacrificial prawn in your group to go get those, lest you miss out!)

This year's event could be a bigger one - given GW's aboutface with community engagement, and the Design Studio threatening to hold seminars of their own once again, showing off forthcoming toys I wouldn't rule out the same at Warhammerfest, and I wouldn't rule out the possibility of pre-release stuff from the main studio (HOPEFUL SPECULATION. NOT A RUMOUR. DON'T MAKE ME GET ARNIE TO SHOUT AT YOU!)

Overall, definitely worth the £20 day ticket. And given the Tournament ticket includes a £32 Weekend Ticket, I'm reliably informed by regular tournament goers that the £75 ticket for that isn't unreasonable (though I'm dubious about entering, on account it might well prevent seminar attendance, and as Granny Weatherwax might say, 'I don't hold with that sort of thzing' (missing seminars. Not tournaments)

Reckon I'll upgrade to the Weekend ticket thouch. Because it's also the Weekend closest to my birthday.

I just hope that it is better organised than the previous one.

The last warhammefest was a total let down for me, I went all the way to Coventry on the train, I was there an hour before it opened and still I could not get a ticket for a seminar.

I hope GW brings it back to the US eventually. I loved going to Games Day. It was seriously something I had looked forward to all year long.

And we've got a seminar schedule.

I'm sharing the Sunday one as that's the day I'm going, so nyer.

Intrigued by the Redacted ones. One imagines it's 40k related, but I'll do my best to get tickets to them all. And the Specialist Games one.

All depends how early I arrive, as it's always possible seminar tickets go before I can snag them.

As I'm there on the second day, I'll make it my mission to clear up and clarify any inconsistencies which may occur from Saturday's attendees.

I'm there both days as I'm doing the HH tournament with my Knights. Hoping I can get a good look round on the Sunday afternoon, doubt I'll get to a seminar this time though.

Having taken more time to look at the REDACTED stuff, what's the betting it's Nurgle CSM?

I'm there on the Sunday, mainly as I don't and back in the UK until late Saturday!
I've enjoyed the last 2 I went to - relaxed, time to chat to designers and other gamers, it was a refreshing change from the crammed in pressure cooker of Games Day for me.

Will they be selling the FW Custodes character there?

With regard to stock levels, I was told by GW themselves that the Rogue Trader reprint will be available, but for reasons best known to...well, I dunno, only like 5 copies.

I've had one squirrelled away for myself though, but will likely be keeping hold of it rather than sending it off to another equally deserving Nerd.

The group does have people who regularly (at least once a week) visit Warhammer World, so it's a good resource for getting limited stuff.

There's also a very slim chance I'll be able to pick up some Heresy Legion dice. The Forgeworld stand at Salute! had a supply of Sons of Horus, Word Bearers and I think Deathguard (sorry, really not 100% on the third legion set).

And it seems this is because FW's event stock is booked out and set aside six months ahead of a given event. So even stuff that came and went in the blink of a gnat's chuff might still be out there for the canny and keen eyed.

However, even if they are carrying them at Warhammerfest, as I'm going on the Sunday it's entirely possible I'll miss them. But will look anyway. Actually, that bit of info might deserve a thread of it's own, because it's useful to know.

Some licensing tidbits from Warhammer Community...

Seems we'll find out the future of GW IP RPG at Warhammerfest....

Could it be that the old FFG books are going into print? I've no idea if that's actually possible, as will depend entirely on the exact license that was given to FFG of course.

Same for me, with anything that may even pertain to Mechanicus, Mechanicum, and Fires Of Cyraxus. Also, Adeptus Titanicus as well.

Did that. Joined. Asked about the Custodes and the first chucklehead to crop up said "Uhh just order one!" as if FW just sell them via the website for pick up at the event.

What a pillock.

And opportunity to play the new 40k confirmed.

I am going to be one busy little bee on Sunday!

Actually half way tempted to go up Saturday night and stay in a hotel.

This is what I will be doing !
I do not fancy getting up at the crack of dawn to get the train.

True that. And I may even pop along on the Saturday too, get some shopping done.

All the bloody hotels were booked when I checked 2 weeks ago!

Going up on Sunday. Interesting for me though I didn't even know they did any seminars tbh, you think they are worth going to?

Ridin' on a Snotling Pump Wagon

Definitely.

FW ones are usually interesting and show off a decent amount of toys.

But the Studio ones? Not been to one for so long (on account they stopped doing them) I can't really remember how much they gave away.

They are going to showcase new videogames (some unrealeased.) Could some charitable soul go and see what new games will there be? I'm very interested.

Will definitely be sniffing around everything.

But, as I'm going on the second day, it may be that I'm playing Corroboration rather than breaking much actual news!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Executive decision made, hotel room booked.

Now driving up on the Saturday and staying in a hotel. May do a spot on shopping on the Saturday too.
