Does the Masque act as comp? Despite the ridiculous power of barkstar vs the field Masque can be a hard counter. Not sure how good traitor artillery is against barkstar. Disclaimer: if accurate, this statement is more accurate as the number of rounds in an event rises.

I feel like a AoS style allowing you to shoot in your turn instead of swinging in hth would balance the game nicely. GSC and barkstar seem like hard counters to shooty armies, also in the mix is its hard to shoot daemons. I know they have reintroduced a bunch of deploy from reserves than assault formations and rules. They could just get rid of the rule altogether if you can act properly in your own turn.

Indeed Masque is a great way to slow down Deathstars for 1 turn, however she is more likely to be a really good way for the opponent to get first blood.

^This and most armies (even deathstar based ones) have enough firepower to kill her in 1 turn. Meaning she drops in hits them with limited move for 1 turn and dies or starts on the board and dies. Its a really great tool for daemon players to outplay and outmanoeuvre deathstars but far from enough to stop them.

The Masque is just about the WORST Daemon character to run; can't go in units, super squishy, and takes up a full HQ slot (when other heralds don't). Run her only if you feel a NEED to have a Slaanesh character in your Daemon army.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Anyone that is trying to underplay the Masque's utility does not have that much experience with her.

Yes, I think she is a good reason why we dont see as many 1850 point deathstars near top tables anymore.

Aftermath can be calculated.

No we're still getting that.

And no she's really not that great. For 75 points she's among the easiest First Blood targets out there.

As always, depends on the format. ITC has one mission with First Blood and two others with First Strike. First strike she is unlikely a factor at all as she is either in reserve or in a bunker with escape hatch. First blood maybe an issue but again similar ways to mitigate it.

Also I don't think you can talk about her in a vacuum. Lists that take her better have the ability to take advantage of that turn she makes em dance, cause there won't likely be another shot. So renegades or Magnus and friends or something similarly decked out. Not sure she's worth it in a list that is a bit more cagey in how it plays.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

People need to remember that the masque can select her target and then choose to run which is D6+3 with fleet. She can slow down the unit she needs to then hide.
