As a small pet project, I'm thinking on buying some old vampire counts models and kit-bashing them with necron, and IG models. My goal is to make a vampire necron army. I'm looking for advice about painting them. Just tips or ideas, because I don't want to make an all silver-grey army if I'm going to put such an amount of effort into converting an army. Ideas for what to kitbash a ghost-ark with, would be greatly appreciated. Also looking for advice on how to make the vampire count's character aesthetics work with necron theme

Do they crave oil and hydrualic fluid rather then blood or plasma?

I was with you till you said IG. What would you be using them for? Mixing skeletons with muscles I don't know, hope you can make it work.

IG I was planning on using as go between for VC and necron parts, also necron-ifying them slightly to make an analogue for space zombies.

You could fluff it that this particular dynasty are 'processing' captured Guardsmen and turning them into disposable footsoldiers to send back against their former comrades

Thats pretty much what I was planning, I was also going to add a bit that this dynasty was awakened by accident on a feudal world. Something along the line of a peasant wandering into it, and then having their personality sucked into an overlord's body, The personality is warped and then starts assimilating the rest of the world. It then starts dressing up its warriors and modifying its vehicles to reflect that of the feudal world.

Bone Necrons would make sense. Plus, I really prefer the look to just metal robots.

I think I'd be replacing a lot of the heads, or alternating at least
the necrons ribs do well as a bone look, I second the bone painting idea
You could also do a little ala Mechanicum ie - replace legs here and there, and arms, as tho they're slowly becoming necron-ified
