So while sat looking at a pile of team yankee us kits that are awaiting paint or to be built I've decided to go for a desert storm look, now I know this won't be everyone's cup of tea and is a bit later the 1985 but to hell with it I think it will look pretty cool.

So does anyone have any thoughts on stand ins for equipment the marines would have used ie Peter pig Humvees as m113s, the harriers for thunderbolts. Maybe chuck a platoon of m60s down for m1 stand ins. Might even just use the peter pig marines as think those minis are nicer than the battlefront ones. Oh and of course paint the cobras up in marine grey.

I have no definite info to hand but there was a Military magazine my brother and I got I the 80's/90's called Firepower and this would have had just the sort of stuff they were using at that period.

Now from memory they were rocking M60 tanks lagging way behind the Armored (sic) Regiments of the Army so probably spot on there.

Infantry would have been in AAV-7's I think rather than M113's or Bradleys. This would have been somewhere between the two in terms of armour and armament.

A quick google found that it was Issue 57 and there's one on ebay for about £4, so might be worth a gander. Don't hold me to any of this as its been 20+ years since I actually saw a copy!

Nice idea for a force!

Im doing similar with my Soviet, using early 90s Russian infantry and vehicles, gives a much more modern flavour to it and helps differentiate from the strelkovy look of the Bf miniatures.

Where are you getting your infantry for that then bud, I really like the Peter pig marines that I have although they are a bit later than desert storm they are really nice figs but not a very big range. I see QRF miniatures have some but most reviews say they suck.

Those figs look very nice I'm sure they'll look great once painted up.
