So the whole thing comes to 498. 2 points off.

Okay; problems bro:

The first is that your squads are 9 men. This would be fine; except it means that the squads cannot embark upon their transports. Razors can only carry 6. as your squads aren't 10's you can't combat squad. those heavy bolter boxes can't utilise their transport capacities.

That was supposed to represent the base squad of 5. Not an additional 4 marines. That does seem confusing.

And I think my math was skewed. The whole thing comes to 490. And that's after I bought the Gorgons Chain for the chaplain.

Admittedly, this was a quick job. I literally just decided to do iron hand earlier and went to buy this stuff. I have eveything but the razorbacks.

I'm considering dropping those and bringing a stormhawk. Do those suck against ground targets?

No worries man; hey can I ask if there's an event or something you're planning this for? cause 500pts is a weird barrier? like combat patrol but with a compulsory HQ and no limitations on fliers and the like?

I'm not overly well versed in forgeworld armouries; but stormhawks appear to be quite potent against all targets.

However:
Bringing a flier at 500pts isn't gonna win you friends.
Bringing Forgeworld at 500pts isn't going to win friends.
Bringing a list with minimum Compulsories is unlikely to win you friends

Bringing a list with minimum requirements (admittedly its not quite 2squads of scouts) and a forgeworld, flier; might even be deemed TFG behaviour.

If your meta is competitive, I love it.
Aesthetically; I love it.
and In terms of fluff; you could say in the closing stages of a battle; your HQ and a few surviving troops desperately fend off a larger enemy force (initially) until support arrives in the form of the gunship. Narrative justified; story-wise; I love it.

Plus side; it's not some scummy "getting started" formation with bonus rules that allow a handful of minis to punch WELL above their weights. Also not a devastating formation from our codex or supplement that one might be able to squeeze into slightly bigger games?

I like the new list more. less mobile and less obsec units; but boy oh boy is that a threat you just put on the tabletop

Me and my buddy just play smaller games right now. This is sort of tailored because he's bringing Tau (he's convinced that he should build the most over the top cheese list possible) so this is just until the rest of his fire warriors arrive.

I also just think fliers are neat. And I'm sick of painting rhinos.

If he's bringing an interceptor-side; you're screwed. just a heads up.
