So in the course of an otherwise terrible performance at the FLGS weekly tournament tonight i stumbled on something interesting about operations Specialist... it works every time you miss.

So on one occasion i had (through a combination of RAC missing twice) Rexler Brath with 3 focus tokens (1 from action, other 2 from op spec). Naturally I didn't roll any foci on this attack, had no damage to flip with the ability and didn't need it for defense. But it got me thinking: are there other ways to use that crew card than with RAC gunner & hotshot?

Stridan seems like a natural fit or other Upsilon... add FCS to boost his own shots andhe becomes a pretty good cleanup hitter (cause he can take the focus himself) or can boost the defense of another ship...

What do you folks think?

FWIW, the list I ran tonight is below. I got some not great matches, and bad dice, but I'm pretty sure I did much (or at least notably) better 2 weeks ago with Maarek Stele and Vader instead of Rexler Brath and op spec

A different (hopefully better) idea:

================
Focus Firepower
================

100 points
------

Rexler Brath (35)
TIE Defender (37), Adaptability (0), TIE/x7 (-2)

“Omega Ace” (24)
TIE/fo Fighter (20), Comm Relay (3), Veteran Instincts (1)

Major Stridan (41)
Upsilon-class Shuttle (32), Fire-Control System (2), Operations Specialist (3), Systems Officer (2), Pattern Analyzer (2)

------
Rexler and Omega Ace both at ps9. Early in the game Ace can/will miss shots, giving Rexler or Stridan a focus (that plus fcs makes Stridan a lot more dangerous than otherwise, I'd think) or pass it to Rexler or himself for defense. Coordinate and systems officer should mean that Rexler has TL & focus on offense most turns.

Early/Mid game Ace can hopefully get some R1 shots for 3 crits on weakened enemies (shields down or close to it) while the shuttle is still handing out TLs and actions.

I'm tempted to drop the system officer to alleviate the pressure to take green moves and maybe give Rexler Juke and Adaptability to Ace... or possibly use crack shot on Ace and adapt Rex down to ps7... but I'm not happy with the latter- probably better to save points and run Maarek Stele instead.

Thoughts?
