Good evening Brothers! So I have once again been trying to brew something new and interesting for possible competitive use. This one is a tad unconventional but I feel it could certainly be rather strong!

In this configuration, all the units can arrive turn 1, with re-rollable reserves, scatter only 1d6 and you can steal the initiative on a 5+.
Everything being in drop pods means you can null deploy with ease and the accurate deep strikes offer a lot of tactical advantages.

The sternguard are overall very versatile units and with 2 meltas per squad there is a reasonable amount of anti-armour. The dreadnaughts can potentially have meltas too if necessary...
Karlean is necessary and not bad for his points cost anyway, while the terminator captain can act as a wound-soaker.

The one-off attack bike is there to give the demi-company the command benefits only. As of now I cannot decide if these benefits are worth it and whether the 55 points would be better spent on additional wargear on the other units though....

Overall I am quite optimistic about this force! I feel it could actually be pretty competitive! Any thoughts?

I would look at a couple of bulk troops in drop pods. That way you can really leverage some support and or take and hold. Two units of ten should do the trick to really give you some solid footing on the board.

Looks like you and I have similar ideas about Blood Angels tactics: You don't need to hold objectives if you entirely annihilate the enemy.

My main critique is to drop the meltaguns in two squads for a squad with flamers and a squad with gravguns. Flamers will really help if you see more massed infantry and Gravguns can reliably kill MC and other tough cookies (We're looking at you, Wraithknight).

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I'm not sure how good of a plan tabling is for BA.

Competitive list and the BA faction shouldn't be in the same list.
In my opinion, BA without allies are utter garbage.

Well that's your opinion.

By the time you start adding in allies, you might as well go play those allies as your main list.

Coming in a little hot there aren't you? The point of this site is constructive criticism. If you don't like the list or faction be helpful or keep quite and move along.

Good morning,
I'd like to apologize for what I said but I'm getting really frustrated with this army. I love blood angels but it looks like they don't keep up with most armies (I'm unlucky because the armies I face are either blue marines, necrons, tau, eldar and khorne daemonkin) and the only game I won was a match at 1500 were I had a knight crusader as ally.

Beside that: I love your list but I dont understand why you would want to bring Karlean along: it's not pivotal that you have the first turn right?
Additionally, I like to give the furioso's a meltagun since the frag cannon is normally enough to deal with infantry.

Karlean makes ALL of the reserves re-rollable which is pretty big....

The archangel's demi-company already gives that bonus to units with the Deep Strike special rule.

I like Karlaen for AOIF lists that aren't using drop pods.

Drop pods and stern guard actually dont have the deep strike special rule .
Thats why im taking Karlean ^^

Drop Pods and embarked units must be held in Deep Strike reserve.

But they don't have the rule. The detachment and formation special rules state that only units with the deep strike special rule get to have their reserves re-rolled.

Yeah, that's an interesting point.

They gain that special rule so they benefit the re-roll

Where does it say they gain it?

Drop pod assault: Drop pod and units embarked upon them must be held in Deep Strike Reserve

Storm of Angels: you can re-roll failed Reserve rolls for units in this Formation with the Deep Strike special rule.

Half your drop pods arrive automatically, and then you can already turn 1 roll for the rest of your pod with the re-roll bonus

I don't know if deep strike reserve counts the same as having the deep strike special rule. Good job, GW.

I think that deep strike reserve counts the same as having the deep strike special rule: what changes is that the drop pod allows you to enter with half of these already at turn one but the whole formation breaks the rule thus allowing you very likely to bring your whole army in turn 1.

If you are going to include 2 dreads - why not take three with the chapter ancients?

2 of the dreadnaughts fulfill the mandatory number for the archangels demi-company, the other two are required for the archangels strike force that im taking in order to get Karlean into the army (since the stupid angels blade formation wont let me take him instead of a stupid terminator captain >.&gt.

So yeah, there's no way to fit the Chapter Ancients formation in.

Took the list for its first test run last night against space wolves iron wolves with thunderwolf cavalry. Victory for the Sons of Sanguinius! This was a tough matchup given that they had a lot of ways to destroy my dreadnaughts and significantly outnumbered me.
However! The wolves were almost tabled by the end of the game, only having two landspeeders and 5 blood claws left on the board. 9 drop pods coming in on turn 1 was pretty brutal!

Has anyone elde got any feedback on the list?

More success with this list. Played a 2v2 game allied with Ynnari Eldar against a 1st-turn charge space wolves wulfen and TWC list + transport spamming demi company sapce marines. We won resoundingly despite them stealing the initiative and getting a 1st turn charge off with two of the TWC squads. Any more thoughts on the list? Has anyone tried it out for themselves yet?

I find it interesting that you're getting wins against TWC/Wulfen Space Wolves.

In my experience vs Space Wolves with this type of list, I'll deep strike, shoot and then get assaulted and die on the Space Wolf turn.

Do you have the Space Wolf players list from the first game you played ?
