I had a random urge today to build and paint some battlesuits so picked up a tau start collecting box.

I'm not big on playing tau in general, i already have plenty of ad mech for my gunline fix but was thinking about throwing together a take on all comers battle suit army for casual 1500-2000 games.

To start i was gonna use a hybrid force and take some fire warriors to make CADs an option but otherwise a retaliation cadre and possibly optimized stealth cadre should do me.

I was just wondering if there were any other battle suit formations worth looking at in supplements?

Also any pointers in keeping it fun/competitive without going too far in either direction?

You'd need the Farsight one to get Crisis Troops. Then you'd need the one Tau FW book to get Hazard suits in the FA slot. They're not terribly great but the T5 and natural Hit And Run has its uses. They'll probably be updated once FW does their new book.

Do not buy the current FW Tau book. Wait for Fires of Cyraxus.

I've been waiting for fires of cyraxus for over a year just for the ad mech giant robot rules.
Forgot it was tau too, one more reason to wish they'd hurry up.

All you need for running an all Battlesuit army is the current Farsight Enclave suppliment and the current Tau Empire codex. Then just follow the rules.
