in relation to the knights on the latest bulletin:
something in my mind is saying that despite how awesome it would be to have customizable knights, i dont think thats going to happen.
i think the 'warlord' knight will have options to basically set him up as any of the knights they plan on releasing so you could have any knight from your collection as the warlord in a game.

further, i think that the guy with the knight army is just using the lancer chassis as his warlord representing a knight paladin. the shield generator cant be removed or upgraded despite the background picture on page 231 of HH extermination showing one without it on the same page as its rules.

I do hope they release the Knight Warden, kind of a HS Knight with big guns but slow and lacking in melee. Honestly, I'm all about them releasing as many knights as possible because I really like the models and they are very impressive on the table. Also, fun and easy to paint. I'm about to order the Archenon and I will order the Styrix as soon as it's released. But, I think that the Styrix won't be released until the new HH book is. Anyone want to take a guess on when that will be? I heard it was before Xmas, but are we talking late November or mid December?

Is it only me who finds it odd that the sicaran battle tank have different armourvalue between loyalist sicaran battle tank and infernus sicaran battle tank.

Look at it this way, while gibbering faces of the damned provide a useful tool against the enemy's morale, said faces don't provide quite the same protection against high velocity anti-tank weapons.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Incidentally, what is the difference in armour values?

The difference is; loyalist 13,13,13. While renegade have 13,12,12. They have the same rules and they cost the same.

And the loyalist was FAQ'd to 13/12/12, it was a misprint.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

New Mechanicum Knight, Questoris Knight Styrix, is up: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/QUESTORIS_KNIGHT_STYRIX.html

Housing machine spirits which some say became too accustomed to wholesale slaughter during the Age of Strife and the Great Crusade that followed it, many of the more conservative Households consider the Styrix to be a dark and malevolent pattern of armour, the wanton slaughter it unleashes being beneath a true Knight. Other Households hold no such reservations, loosing entire formations of Styrix mark Knights to mercilessly annihilate their foes.

Armed with a devastating Volkite chieorovile and backed up with a graviton gun and twin-linked rad cleanser, the Questoris Knight Styrix is easily able to eliminate large numbers of infantry at range. Whilst in close combat, its immensely powerful hekaton siege claw can smash vehicles and tear buildings asunder, making it a powerful addition to any army.

The Questoris Knight Styrix can be fielded in Horus Heresy games using the Battles in the Age of Darkness expansion as part of the forthcoming Questoris Knight Crusade Army list or as a Lords of War choice for any Horus Heresy army. Its rules will be published in the next Horus Heresy rulebook, details of which will be revealed very soon!

This is a complete multi-part resin and plastic kit, designed by Rob MacFarlane. It is available to pre-order now and will be despatched from Monday November 17th.

"Simple slaughter is not the apex of war. The enemy must be burned out of his every bolt hole, his stockpiles destroyed and every last hope he has trampled into the dust of his cities."
- Chieftain Sidrik Nathmel of the Sons of Horus
[/color]

Volkite chieorovile is the main gun, so I'm expecting lots of high AP shots. Interesting to see where this fits in with the Castigator's bolt cannon.

volkite weapon? Might not be usable in 40k at all, if we go off previous Volkite using tanks/vehicles.

I'm not holding my breath that the rules will be that good anyway, I won't buy one till I see the rules, and I have brought all the other Knights.

The Magaera was very meh and offers too little over a Thanatar for me, the D weapon in CC is about all I'd want. In fact a Magaera with the claw is only 20 points cheaper than a pair of Thanatars, which have twice the shots, T8 MC, etc.

Yeah the FW link says pretty specifically that this model is just for Horus Heresy games. Looks cool tho, it's unfortunate.

The Volkite might be a Heavy Beam weapon like the Volkite Carronade on the Glaive SHT.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.

I'm pretty sure we can 'counts as' it up to get it into 40K.

But really, 30K is where it is at anyway.

Especially once FW smartens up and does some Great Crusade Era stuff - including Xenos!

The Magaera is allowed in 40K, I don't see why the Styrix won't be. I don't think that Volkite is all that powerful that they'd keep it out of 40K. I hope the Volkite chieorovile is a large blast.

Pretty sure the Styx isn't allowed in 40k. The other knights specifically mentioned they may be used in a Knights army (which is a 40k army) as well as a Lord of War choice for other Imperial 40k armies.

This one doesn't. They even went out of their way to say "Lord of War choice for any HORUS HERESY army".

If this was really allowed for 40k, why would they say it's a LoW choice for any HH army, then not mention it's also a LoW choice for any "Imperial" army or whatever else, unlike the other knights?

Given that the quote for it comes from a Sons of Horus guy, I wouldn't be too surprised if the Mechanicum banned them after the HH or something due to being chaos corrupted (all that wanton slaughter and all).

It is just a precedent thing- so far every released Volkite option has not got 40k rules. The Fellglaive was released several months prior to Imperial Armour 2nd Edition, and yet it doesn't feature where it's sister vehicle, the Fellblade does. For whatever reason, FW does not want volkite weaponry in 40k. Maybe they think it would be too powerful against certain xenos? It is certainly pretty effective against infantry hordes.

I wondered that, since GW/FW often use actual archaic words for types of gun to name their weapons. However a brief search of the internet for the word only turned up links relating to this product so I would say no, it isn't.

It appears to be FW's standard latin-ish... "chiero" or "chiro" is the latin-ized Greek for " kheir" and pronounce "kaih-ro" and means of the hands and is used in medicine and in some synonyms for palm reading. Vile is simply bad, repulsive, or objectionable. This is a "Foul-handed" volkite weapon.

Dat face. No, really. Combined with the angle of the head, the appropriate caption to that knight's pictures would be: "whoa, the acid just kicked in. I can TASTE colors, bro."

Other than that and the fugly carapace... the big gun is nice.

If they ever release Mk. VIII I'll have to actually expand my Minotaurs into a full battle company. The hobbiest in me will be quite excited, the penny-pinching Dutchman, less so.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
