Awesome! Somewhat exonerated in having chaos-tainted eldar. Not that anyone's actually had a problem with them to be honest, rule of cool and all I've been thinking about a big of a re-paint for my Blightdar actually (not grimy enough) so I could tie it into that not sure about the red, low contrast and all, but having an off-white base colour would really showcase all the icky washes. Ooh! If Malariel is an ex-Saim Hann dude then that'd be the perfect way to tie in my actual Saim Hann dude Osutharal he's been hunting down his former kinsmen and followed them here. I love new fluff snippets! Oh, I've also got an update! This guy's been 99% built for ages but I've been waiting for a Harlequin's Caress to come in stock on bits sites. Finally got bored of waiting and just ordered a Harly kit (£15 for one bit!). Sure i'll use the rest though Alileath felt for the presence of the seer, reaching out with her psychic senses. From high above the seer appeared as a placid lake, barely a ripple disturbing its cool surfaces. Familiar. The Path of the Seer required utmost concentration. Damnation awaited those who wavered. However, this time curiosity got the better of her. She leant in closer, desiring to look beneath the surface. Instantly she wished he hadn't. Roiling, seething rage howled beneath the placid surface. Loss, anger, desperation. Wailing around and around and around doing nought but gather momentum. Sweet mother Isha. What kind of mind could hammer that into submission. Alileath couldn't decide whether to be reassured or terrified that such a mind was leading the Angvai. 'Bellatheral' they call him. 'Warmaker'. Never had a name been more fitting. Bellatheral stalked the ruined battlefield. Around him his warriors fought and fell. The might of the mon keigh filth was strong here, but he couldn't stop now. After all they'd been through, after all they'd lost. To give up now would be unthinkable. They must prevail. An axe-wielding brute charged towards him, shrieking its litanies and chants. As their gaze met Bellatheral momentarily shunted all of his grief, all of his loss, all of his anger directly into the poor primitive's brain. His moment of catharsis was rather marred by bits of the unfortunate creature striking his armour. Perhaps some day he'll have transferred the very last drop and the momentary tranquillity would last forever, but as yet that well had proven bottomless.

Another sweet character appears.
I like that pose a lot. He looks like an old West gunslinger.

Thanks guys! You're right he does look like a gunslinger bit unfair though. Can't help but think that the Farseer would blow the poor mon keigh's brains out before he even touched the trigger. Just like the eldar to stack the deck
The conversion didn't actually use that many extra bits. The right hand is a Harlequin's Caress, the base is from the High Elf Mage I think (but you can use other stuff) and the holstered sword is from the Eldrad kit.
The actual work was in rejigging around the bits of the Farseer model so he's standing upright, clipping off the sleeves and repositioning them pointing downwards, and bending the fingers slightly so they're a little clenched rather than the typically eldar overextension
Bit nerve-wracking chopping up a character model, but it's actually quite tricky to wreck stuff beyond repair so don't let that stop you!

Thanks guys it's been great fun coming up with angry-marines eldar also, I was quite fond of the idea that if you transfer the depth of anger and grief an eldar can feel into a human their head explodes
The Storm Guardians are one of those dead simple kitbashes that look much better than their simple conversion has any right to they're just Wych legs, Guardian torsos and Harlequin weapons but they work really nicely

Thanks dude yeah I'm chuffed with how he turned out.
I had an idea of trying to make it look like some of the gravel and sand beneath his feet was floating up with eldritch power but lord knows how I'd manage that without the modelling looking obvious...

What?! Awesome! I've always wanted one of those but managed to miss the window and they're ludicrously expensive second hand.
That and I love the winged and Banshee-masked Autarch. Another favourite I never managed to pick up. Had an idea of trying to cast his head in resin as it's such a cool bit...
If the price is right GW's going to be getting yet more of my money
I wonder if they'll be metal or Finecast...

Tzeentch and Hrlequins should go together like death and taxes. Plots within plots within plots. But is Tzeentch using the Harlequin or is it vice versa?
I would love to see an avatar of The Laughing God converted out of the Deceiver.
Abhoranash?

Mmm yeah they do go together really nicely Plots within plots within plots. I like that
A Laughing God Avatar would be so damn cool especially made from The Deceiver (I've got a bit of headcanon that Cegorach is the eldar's manifested racial memory of The Deceiver during the War in Heaven, so the parallels would be neat).
Actually, I think I've got an old Deceiver metal model knocking around. Shall see if I can find it

Especially like the dynamic poses you got going for pretty much all of the models. And that farseer is very badass!

Wow! Over a year since I last posted anything in this thread. However, the Blackstone Fortress ranger model has enticed me back to making something eldar.
First order of the day is to ' de-pinup' her pose. I can see what they were going for with the stock pose, but I tend to prefer stuff that's more gritty and realistic to the more bombastic regular 40k stuff. My golden rule is that each model should look like someone's taken a snapshot while it's going through some other motion in its day-to-day life. The only people who get a 'strike a pose/try to look heroic' pose are those whose character fits it (Imperial nobles work, as would Night Lords given their predisposition towards theatricality).
Here's what I came up with
I don't usually post WIPs, but it might be a while before she sees paint. Hope you like her!

Your pose modification definitely looks better. I think "pin up" is fine, but I don't think the stock pose is even "pin up" at all. It's just bland and looks like it was done solely to fit a flat, single mold (even if it comes in more than one bit). Hopefully yours sees paint sooner than later!

I love the model for BSF but the pose for it was as depressing to see as the DE archon pose. This is an absolute improvement over the stock pose. I completely agree with you about getting your models to look like they're in a snapshot of their daily life on the battlefield. Great work, can't wait to see some paint on it.
