I always love to see some more Lions, the latest Captain is a timeless classic brought back to life! The lenses look stunning too. I quite like how you have made the same mini at different phases of his career as well

And here's me still thinking of that space marine sculpt as one of the 'new guys on the block'!

Gosh time flies...

Painting all looks fab as usual - thanks for sharing

Lol. You are not alone. The relative grognard in me always scoffs at his "newfangled grav weapon..."

Thank you everyone, this page needs some pictures! Plus does anyone even use Grav in game, it seems a bit DOA...

Swampboss Skumdrekk is done. Of all the Kruleboyz kits this one represents the best value, it is a lot of mini for not much (relatively) money. I really enjoyed painting him, I gave him a yellow tabbard to tie him into the army but tried to make him look like a swampy, evil, rusty mess of a model:

The history of the Celestial Lions is forever tied to the Black Templars, it was the intervention of Grimaldus and Helbrecht that prevented the chapter from fighting to destruction on Armageddon. Thus to supplement my Lions there may be the odd Templar addition to my army.

Thus the arrival of The Emperor's Champion:

This train has no brakes...

The beastie is an absolutely delightful shade of green. Looks fantastic, as does the armor on the Champion.

Great work , skumdrek thing is awesome.

Every time I see the emperors champion the laurels look like horns , I think they are falling to chaos .

Lovely work on skumdrekk, he certainly looks nice and swampy. The green on his mount is a great spot of colour too, good choice.

The Emperors Champion looks cool, but like Theo I can’t help but see the laurels as horns!

That monster is looking so great, you spared none of the details. Love the different green tones for the skin and amazing work on the captain. Always fascinating how good old sculpts can look with a modern paintjob.

Ooh. Nice work on that swamp creature thing. It strikes me as very Jim Henson/Dark Crystal. Emperor's Champion also came out very nice.

Cheers everyone...I Ain'tent Dead! Sorry for the lack of recent updates, real life and all that. I even forgot to do my picture of what I got done in October...that will have to be in my next post.

First up are a couple of repaints for my Templars. These were formerly Deathwatch but have been changed to Templars, these are not getting added to my yearly total. Not much exciting but a Redemptor and Terminator Captain with additional transfers and gubbins:

I also painted up a multipart unit of the Man skewer boltboyz, including the cool banner for the leader. Between this unit and the next mini I passed the 300 mark for the year, I reckon that Kruleboyz are nearly a third of that total...

Finally for this updat is a mini that I just knew I had to buy.. the Warhammer Day Miniature: Vampire Lord Anasta Malkorion. I changed the head to one from the Blood Knight kit (I think this is quite a popular move) and also added her to one of the AOS Hero bases. I am really pleased with her:

She's fantastic. That skin tone is killing it and the base is awesome to look at but doesn't compete. Love it.

Your plog is absolutely top class, your painting style is definitely what I aspire to, really like those AoS orcs, never really gave them much consideration but they are actually really cool looking.

The vampire is outstanding, the skin tone is a great classic vampire colour, base is proper class too!

High praise indeed from you YouWasShock, I must admit that I am very happy with her.

@Olthannon: Thank you so much. The Kruleboyz range is a bit of a sleeper to me, originally I was really against the aesthetic but they ground me down with each new reveal.

Anyway....Warhammer Day? Completed it mate.

Another Primaris Lieutenant! This was £11 delivered thanks to my Warhammer + Voucher...so no complaints. Only change was I used a bare head from the Templar Marshal sprue.

And with Anasta...

Quite the couple they make. New LT is a fine addition to the boys in gold. The headswap definitely adds character.

Great job on both minis. And I'm sorry to say (because the skin color on the vampire is great) it instantly reminds me of Vampirina. A Disney show that is a favorite in the younger audience of this household atm
And great way of repurposing those Deathwatch minis.

I always love to see some new Lions, and you haven’t disappointed with the latest batch! The Warhammer day pair are stunning, even if Viterbi put Vampirina in my head

I like the limited edition Space Marine... controversial opinion, but I can't lie, I'm a marine guy

Your gold is fantastic - do you fancy doing a full tutorial at some stage?

Thanks for sharing

Nothing wrong at all with the Vampirina comparisons (admittedly I had to google her first,I was hoping her to be more like Elvira, google her younger viewers...but there you go!).

@IGtR: My gold is ridiculously simple:

Black Undercoat.
Retributor gold layer.
Light Runefang Steel drybrush.
Aggrax wash (add medium to taste).
Retributor layer clean up on any wash patches.
Additional runefang steel layer if you want on sharp edges. Done.

So the progress train continues with a bit of variety. First up is the Wight King on skeletal steed...I adore this mini so much, it is a fantastic sculpt:

I also painted up Bastian Carthalos...original idea was to maybe Lionise him but he is an incredible model so I went with him stock. And gold armour? Me? Never!

I also finished up a multi part Eradicator Squad for my Celestial Lions, this time including a multi melta for any juicier targets:

Finally...what else can I say? It is far too early. This was a lot of fun and mainly experiments with contrast and 'Ardcoat on the baubles. As a general rule in life do not put 'Ardcoat on your baubles. Only thing I am not entirely happy with is the stripe on the candy cane dynamite...but it is what it is.

Purple and gold working overtime on the first two. Getting a real sense of regal age with all the patina. Eradicators look great. Melta barrels looking properly scorched. That squig's eyes are perfect.

Thank you for the instructions on painting gold; for me (and my penchant for making grubby combat vehicles, because I have no eye for color) using the steel to 'weather' the gold is not intuitive, but it comes out great.

Lots of great painting here and the Christmas Squig is too much!

That last post is magnificent, really good job on the Wight King in particular, really nice patina. The Red Gobbo looks so good, it's a nice sculpt and your painting really accents it.

An Elvira/Vampirina Mash-up would be a sight to see

Great work on the new minis, that Wight King is also on my list for the future. Painted one on foot for a friend and it was lots of fun.

Love your work on the Stormcast leader. He just looks like a time traveler who now helps the Lions out, when they need some light hammering

I'm really looking forward to that Wight Knight getting released separately one day.

It is that time of the month again, update time.

First up is some unfinished business, Octobers completed work photo:

Which brings us to what i have done in November:

A paltry total by my normal standards, only 15 miniatures painted for a total of 312 for the year.

WIP wiseI started work on some of the new Black Templars and used a couple of the new upgrade sprues and some Crusader squad leftover bits to Templarise a spare copy of Indomitus I had hanging around...cue blurry photo:

More about these in the coming months.

So since my last post I completed a couple of firstborn units, first up are some Heavy Bolter armed Centurions. I know a lot of people had issues with this unit, personally I see them as some daft fun:

I also completed a lesser seen Stormhawk Interceptor, easily the better looking option of the 2 smaller Marine aircraft:

It’s always a good month when the Lions get some love! The Storm Talon looks cool, I would’ve liked to see a little more blue on there personally, still great though! Will the Templars be taking over the plog, or will the Lions still get some painting love?

Great works on those small lines between the panels on the Stormtalon and again great work all around. It's always nice to see that paint scheme, they do put the bling on the battlefield!
