They do deserve a bit of grief on that one.

Proof that our attention span isn't as rock-solid as we'd like to think, and that we are readily distracted by other, newer things.

All in all, not the worst reveal ever, but is it just me, or is it getting harder to get hype about these things knowing they're being pushed further and further out? Remember the Aeronautica space marine reveals? I wanted some of those kits for Titanicus terrain/bases and such, but nowhere to be seen.

No stake in it but Aeronautica players have been left waiting a bit too long for the new Eldar vs Marines set. And while I don't understand the excitement over the Thunderhawk, it should have been given the highest release priority.

Because...its a plastic thunderhawk? I dunno, but I'm trying to be considerate to Marine players here...

The vampire models are on sale from the set, though the "good" side aren't (unless they are and I've missed that bit of news). In the end it was a disasters, but at the same time its a game and yeah many people have just moved on. GW are clearly not interested in talking about it and in the end even if we do get an answer it won't change what has happened; and its not as if GW benefitted from the problems either.

IIRC someone's showcase army did this just to differentiate without normal company markings etc. for veterans, and it stuck.

On Helbrecht, what an unimpressive interpretation of an unimpressive illustration... It looks like the illustrator didn't know how to create perspective and the sculptor didn't know how to interpret it, so the model's weight looks all wrong and like he might tip away from the ork. Decent detail, terrible composition. Actually, why was it changed to a random boy instead of a nob or whatever? And why is his lantern chain wrapped around his off-hand? Isn't his sword supposed to look like a 2-h weapon? And why are the servitors so bulky now? I'd call it a miss.

On the Servitors, models as far back as the 2nd ed ones were more muscled than they were commonly described in the background. The only skinny Servitor that deserved the corpse creature moniker from the background that GW proper made, to my knowledge anyway, is the loader servitor of the 3rd ed Exorcist.

Since GW has only gone further in the super buff dudes direction in the meantime, with very few exceptions like the Slaanesh cultists from AoS as a notable example, it's not surprising to get super buff Servitors with Helbrecht.

It's the way all GW models are, they insist on making them look like kid's toys. They've never come close to matching the art, I was hoping the move to a larger scale was going to see more realistic proportions but it's not gonna happen. Everything just got bigger, including the already too big hands and feet. Just look at the He-Man DKoK.

Good point.

Further developing Sam Pearson's solo-coop rules for AoS would complement the Quest series, and expand AoS itself.

Thanks to WD issue 458, I had fun with Stormcasts hunting down a Wight King, and now quite fancy the idea of a party of Vampire Lords( the Crimson Court models, no less! ) putting a rival Wolf Lord in their place( a converted Radukar-Beast model ). The Ven Densts would also be a hoot as part of a Vampire hunting party.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

That's only partially true. Embiggened Marines had their hand, head and shoulder pad sizes remain the same while the rest got bigger, thus taking them a little further in the direction of realism. New Sigmarines have better proportions all around with more delicately sculpted detail, and all of that without even getting bigger. Battle Sisters have notably smaller heads than you would have expected from GW models even a few years ago. Escher even more so. While one of GW's big strengths is bits compatibility both in style and size between many of their models, they are fairly inconsistent across ranges when you examine the details, and while models at their core use GW's established exaggerated style, there's a notable span ranging from more delicate, realistic sculpting to a more comical look. GW's sculptors seem to be afforded some leeway in this regard.

I'm sure I'm going to have a box of "He-Man" Death Korps in my hands at some point, at which time I'm sure I'll have a good look at them, but going off other GW models that I have access to right now I simply don't share your sentiment about models getting worse, as in getting further away from realistic proportions. That's not my experience at all. I do agree that GW's style is deliberate and if you prefer more realistic sculpting, it's not something you're going to get from GW. It's not something you have to like either. I don't entirely like it myself. The kids' toys moniker is overdoing it, though. They have bad designs to be sure, along with bad executions, but in my opinion the sculpting style and proportions are chosen for artistically sound reasons rather than with the specific goal of appealing to a certain demographic. The GW style allows the models to have high density of detail as well as considerable depth that serves to individually highlight the components that make up the whole at range and makes things easily identifiable in spite of the models' small size. A more realistic sculpting style is suited to close inspection and model photography, especially when zoomed, a lot better. Whereas GW's style does far better when looking at the actual models, especially at ranges you would normally see them like on the table or on display.

It’s laughable to call the new Krieg set “He-man”. It’s a fine kit that is a nice compromise between the emaciated resin originals and the rather clunky Cadians.

IDK, I haven't seen the plastics in person, but I love working with the FW sculpts, they're nice proportions and I feel nicely put human grunts at the small end of 40k combatants. Unlike GW seem to, I don't feel bigger nor more muscles are always better. It's hard to tell because of the painting, but the new ones seem like they barely fit in their greatcoats (thicker arms and torso with tighter looking cloth), which is IMHO not a step in the right direction.

At least they're not hideously bent, malformed and full of holes like the FW ones.

I've seen mentioned from someone on reddit that in response to a question about the Starstriders:
Bamtrix on Reddit
This sounded like it would be the case in the talk at Gen Con. When asked if rules would be released for both factions from the rogue trader expansion, they stated it would be reprehensible if they didn't release those rules through an easy to access means. So I would expect white dwarf or WarCom.
