So I've seen that some blogs have some kind of a medal system where members are awarded for different kind of stuff, like winning painting competitions or the like (here's a link to Heresy Online's medals as an example). After seeing this I thought, why not have this too on DakkaDakka?

This might be of some interest. Lego said he'd look into it but it would be low priority.

Maybe Lego, the Lord of Cyber-realms, would gift one of his mortal followers the mantle of "Medal Moderator" and the power to grant and take the medals of his other minions, should he even desire the implementation of such a system.

Such a position is sure to send someone completely insane with power, I say it's time for Frazzled to re-enter the mod team. The medals can simply be a picture of a weinerdog head with a hat that suits what the medal is for.

It is something we are generally opposed to - we don't want people turning their dakka posting habits in to a game rather than having natural flowing conversations. While there are obvious exceptions (medals for great content, painting, etc) it is not something we are heavily leaning towards.

I guess could have like army badges? Rather than be awarded you can have one as well as the tracking system, but like under the avatar or something and dcm and mods get their own ones.

Though that does also seem like a lot of work for something that doesn't really feel important at all and I guess it could end up sort of cluttering that space too with what's already there as well.
