With how good FMC are and with 8th coming out soon it can be expected that something will be done about FMC. My suggestion is half BS(rounded down) instead of snap shots. Counted as snap shots for the purpose of blast and flamer template weapons. This would make it so good BS skill isn't punished to much by the fact that they are swooping. And still makes the FMC hard to hit.

Or just let Skyfire weapons choose whether to use Skyfire so you aren't punished for taking them in a TAC list. If ground-based AA didn't have to make the choice between hitting ground targets on 6s and hitting air targets on 6s it'd be a lot more useful.

And unlike your suggestion it makes you take tools to fight FMCs instead of making everything a tool to fight FMCs, and doesn't give free stuff to BS4 armies only.

I agree, it doesn't make much sense that they do have to snap shot because IRL (if you would excuse the heretical comparison) AA weapons have an if anything easier job of hitting ground bases targets.
Especially things like the Hydra which both IRL and in the books get used if anything more for ground fire than sky fire.

Why do you hate Tyranids? The Flyrant is pretty much the only thing keeping them vaguely relevant.

In all seriousness, I think a quick fix isn't going to be enough. You're going to have to do a little more work than just a simple patch.

That's a problem better-solved by fixing the rest of the Codex rather than by keeping the Flyrant good and the rest of the book bad.

I can agree to that. It was mostly a joke. (I've said it seriously in the past, though.)

I just feel like all these "Quick fixes" that pop up don't take enough into consideration. Something I've been guilty of as well.

That's sort of inherent in the concept of 'quick fixes'. I can say "the issues with the psychic phase would be less prevalent if all psykers got free psychic hoods, Summoning powers were treated as targeting the entry-into-play point for purposes of Denial, all casts were capped at six dice, and the Librarius Conclave was hard-banned", but a real fix to the Psychic phase would require me to go walk through all 180-odd powers and produce a trimmed and rebalanced set.

1) Make them only able to shoot forwards (firing backwards while flying is nonsense)
2) Allow them to land and charge in the same turn.
3) If they fail a grounding test have them treated as being pinned even though they would normally be unable to go to ground.

Nope. Even better remove firing arcs from all vehicles. Just like it is assumed every other model type is moving and positioning itself to make best use of it's weapons, vehicle pilots should be driving to maximize the effectiveness of their weapons. Aircraft can do strafing runs, Tanks can fire while on the move. There is no reason a Flyrant that flys 24" forward would wait until it got to the end of that move to shoot all 12 shots as opposed to firing at targets as it goes over them.

Firing arcs, vehicle facings, vehicle damage chart. It's all just book keeping and complication that creates arguments and complicates the game. How many of these suggestions are about adding these complicated bull crap rules to MC to make them more like vehicles? Nonsense.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I actually don't particularly mind FMCs in general all that much. Magnus is terrifying. Flyrants are extremely good for their points. Fateweaver is extremely good. Aside from that, FMCs aren't too big a deal. Coldstars die as soon as you tickle them. Harpies and hive crones don't seem to get any complaints. Most daemons with wings (excluding Fateweaver and Lords of Change) give up a lot when they fly because they can't go after enemies in melee, plus they're mostly T5 meaning they aren't all that tough to bring down with massed fire.

So really it's just the Tzeentch fliers because they can be ridiculously durable while not giving up too much of their offense and flyrants who... probably shouldn't get nerfed until the rest of their book gets fixed. So I'd rather focus on how to make flying Tzeentch circus more reasonable.

Now AV11+ flyers that are basically non-interactive if your book doesn't contain dedicated anti-air... those guys are a pain.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.
