WE FUNDED! Thank you!!!

Kickstarter Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hyacinthgames/wreck-age-post-collapse-vehicle-kits

Hello everyone!

I am excited to announce the upcoming Wreck Age Kickstarter aiming to fund the creation of 1:43 scale resin vehicle models. These will coincide with the release of vehicle rules for Wreck Age that will allow your crews to zip around the wastes in style either on land or by sea! Included in the upcoming range are two cars, one pick-up truck, two motorbikes, and an ATV. There will also be optional extras to create unique vehicles, and faction specific add-ons!

I'll update this thread daily with teasers, the first of which is this awesome piece of artwork showing a caravan racing through the desert.

Here is a scale shot of a car print with some Wreck Age models:

Spoiler:

Dirt Bike with rider (two different riders available)

We have our bikes cast and in hand, so we wanted to add a bike pledge for those interested in creating a biker gang.

Here's what we're doing: you can switch out 3 bikes for 1 car at any pledge level. You want 3 bikes instead of one car? Done! You want 3 bikes and 2 cars, instead of 3 cars? We've got you! You want 4 cars and 6 bikes instead of 6 cars? No problem!

We have also added customization to the road pledge.

For the roads, we have now made the $80 pledge completely adjustable to your needs. If you want only straight pieces, that's no problem. Want a T and a straight, and a bunch of broken sections? Also doable... Just let us know what you want at the end of the campaign and we'll put in the orders.

Another day closer to our Kickstarter launching which means another piece of artwork to share.

This piece shows some of the conceptual sketches for one of the vehicles.

Also, people have been asking for battle reports, and we recently filmed a game which used one of the free scenarios available on Wreck-Age.net.

If you are interested in seeing how Wreck Age plays, please give the video a watch.

The free to download scenario pack that this BatRep is based on can be found here: http://www.wreck-age.net/index.php/online-store#!/2017-Free-Scenario-Bundle/p/70028923/category=0

Thanks for the kind words!

Yeah, that demo board is pretty great. I am not sure if Anton or Matt (or both) made it, but it certainly puts my playing surfaces to shame.

One more day until the Kickstarter launches!

Here is a render of one of the cars from the vehicle range. Like the other vehicles, the chassis will be modular in the types of cargo/weapons and details that can be attached to the body allowing for unique builds and lost of customization.

And don't forget, if you are at Adepticon we will be there running demos and selling stuff! Come by for a demo or just a chat.

Enjoy!

Thanks Manchu! That board is somehow still alive after 4 years and a few dozen cons... I have no idea how the thin wooden bridge has not snapped with all of the other repairs we have had to do to it.

We have 4 other boards... If you are coming to Adepticon come check them out. I only worked on one, and admittedly, it's the shittiest ha ha.

Backed for $85 - for three cars and the new rulebook. I'd love to get those roads but sorry to say the price is wrong. I understand this turned out to be more expensive than originally thought, it's really a shame. They do look great.

Road appeals to me too, but it doesn't make much of a road (More junctions/corners than straights? Really?), especially for the price.

Thanks for the support!

I'll talk to the guys about the roads. I'd like to see some additional straight pieces added to the lot, personally.

What would be the "right" price in your opinion? Would the $80 price be more palatable if more pieces were added (say more straight sections)?

As for the amount of road provided seeming small, it is worth noting that Wreck Age games are typically played on a 3'x3' board, not a 4x6 board, so the amount of road needed to cover a playing surface is less. However, I understand the concerns about the price and assortment. I'll see what can be done to address those concerns.

I recently made some road specifically because I could not find anything like what Hyacinth are offering. I made it for a 3x3 ... just three 12" straights to get across the play area. That's not as interesting as bends and junctions, of course. But for $80 I think - at minimum - there should be enough road in one set to dress a 3x3. $160 to dress a 3x3 is just beyond what I can reasonably afford, considering how cheaply/quickly I can make my own road.

Three resin cars for $75 on the other hand is a nice, nice value for people like me who don't want to convert toy cars.

30%! Thanks everyone! This has been the best St Patrick's day ever.

There is some chatter about the road offering going on in the team... We'll see what can be figured out price and selection wise.

I definitely think the set needs more straight sections. I am not saying this will happen, but if two more straight sections could be added (4 total) that would get you 32" of straight road, and with the two 2.5" end-cap pieces there is your 3'. For a set like that, with all the pieces currently offered and two additional straight sections, would $90 be more appealing?

The margins on these things are tight for us, though, so its a matter of figuring out how to get two more straight pieces added in.

Anyway, genuinely appreciate the feedback and I will try and get something in the works to improve the value of the roads pledge.

Yeah that sounds better but there are some more basic issues. The main problem with the set is the four-way intersection. This kind of piece just doesn't make sense at the price point of these roads because to meaningfully use the thing - as opposed to the T intersection - you are going to have to spend a lot of money. Even the T intersection is sort of superfluous inasmuch as I perforce have to cap off one of the directions, leaving me with a 90 degree turn, which is already accounted for by the smaller of the two bends.

I don't know if this is even close to possible, considering the manufacturing parameters, but I think a sort of "starter pack" with four straights (one damaged, three reg) and a bend would be suitable. Maybe $50? Then offer the other pieces a la cart? Or in different packs? An intersection pack and an "expansion" for the starter, with two more straights (one damaged, one reg) and two caps for like $35? Just spitballing, trying to think of how these excellent pieces could become excellent products.

I may back for one car. Will the ARHK faction starter be an add-on in this?

Hey guys- after some number crunching there was an additional road add on, with some others being figured out if they are viable. We should have some photos and maybe a video of some extreme stress testing on those this weekend. They are made from hardy stuff. Here is the line from the KS:

"You can also do a 4 piece add-on of just straight pieces. Mix and match the regular straights, or the crumbled straight road sections. $45 for the set of 4!"

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hyacinthgames/wreck-age-post-collapse-vehicle-kits

Anyhow keep the feedback coming. We aim to please!

Oh those are at the caster I believe! I'll confirm and see if that is possible. Timelines for these types of campaigns can get overly complicated rather quickly...

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

It's certainly true that the roads are not cheap - but neither are they cheaply made. These roads are not only well-sculpted but also are made out of a durable material. The other issue is, no one else makes anything like it. And since the margin per piece is less than $1, backers are not getting gouged here. This is one of those projects that truly needs Kickstarter because these roads are only getting made at all because a boutique company run by enthusiasts actually wants to do it despite it being basicslly non-profitable. So while the price is premium, this is truly a premium product.

- and it's something that is ONLY possible thanks to crowdfunidng -

The $80 set is unfortunately not very useful but the 4 straights for $45 add-on is very reasonable, taking into account the material, quality, and exclusivity. I really hope Hyacinth can figure out how to offer similar road deal with bends and end caps. If I have to choose between the cars and the roads, I will certainly choose the roads. As nice as the cars are, there are other ways to get post apoc cars in this scale - not so for the roads.

The vehicles are only renders at this point but we will have some scale shots of the renders with some miniatures posted tomorrow. I am not sure if we will be able to get a scale shot of a vehicle with a road. I've inquired about that, though!

Really appreciate the kind words, Manchu!

As Manchu stated above, the roads are an extremely durable product that will provide years of use. Considering how ubiquitous busted roads are in most sci-fi/modern game settings, these roads can be used for numerous games/settings, which helps justify the cost for me (I am in for a full set plus the 4 straight sections).

In other words, I am not just buying these roads for use with a specific game in mind, I am buying roads I'll be using for years whenever I need roads for a game.

We are nearly funded!

More images will be posted during Adepticon, so keep an eye on our KS page for updates and new information. I will try and update this thread during Adepticon, but it will be my first time at the con, so I may be overwhelmed.

As a reminder, we will be Adepticon.

Also!

If you bring your swag bag motorcycle to our booth we will give you a rider for free!

You read that right. Free rider with all swag bag bikes if you show up at our booth.

We will also be holding a paint and play event on Saturday featuring motorcycles and the new vehicle rules.

We funded!

Thanks to everyone who has pledged, or just simply spread the word. It is all greatly appreciated!

Now that the funding hurdle is over with, we can begin focusing on stretch goals. We have some pretty awesome stretch goals in mind so if you are on the fence, please consider jumping in! Just be aware that Tetanus shots are not included!

I'd like to show off a painted render of one of the cars. This car is fitted with some pretty nasty accessories that would make it a terror on the road.

Also!

No problem!

We have also added customization to the road pledge .

We have also shown the renders for the truck chassis and buggy chassis. I have updated the OP with those images so please see the top of this post for details.

Thanks again to everyone participating! It was great meeting a lot of you at Adepticon, and the support we've seen on this Kickstarter has been incredible.
