As it is now 20 years since the original Codex Assassins came out (yes it really was 1997) I have decided to set myself a little hobby challenge... I am going to paint one of each of these classic old metal models (which were in fact sculpted in 1995) alongside its replacement model from the Execution Force boxed game! First up.... we have the snipers of the Vindicare Temple:

1995 Model - Front

1995 Model - Rear

2016 Model - Front

2016 Model - Rear

Overall I really enjoyed painting these models and I think that they came out nicely... though it is clear the newer model is considerably larger than its predecessor.

I have included a load more photos and some additional detail on my blog at:

The original metals were pretty fantastic. I even like the super old generic Imperial Assassin. The new ones have far too much terrain built in for me, but it's clear they kept the same aesthetic.

Nice. Could we have a photo with both the old and new models next to each other, to see the size difference?

I agree, I do prefer the old metal ones! I have that old Imperial assassin somewhere! He might be getting painted too!!

I will try and sort out a comparison photo when I get home!

You should get ahold of the even older Vindicare, where he has a rifle in one hand and the pistol in the other.

They did two metals of each - but not the Culexus right? I can't recall. I know there were two Vindicares, two Eversors, not sure on the other two.

Yeah there were two callidus assassin models one was a two part the other one solid piece.

Culexus had two different heads that was it.

You can see them here.
