I didn't get any traction on this comparison in the Tactics thread, so maybe it should have been over here to begin with. I appreciate any feedback people can offer.
I've been going back and forth between forces for a little 400-point Combat Patrol tourney. I had been leaning toward Inquisition, but I really want to get my White Scars on the table. Which build looks best for an all-comers series of games with both Kill Points and Objectives? I don't know what I'll face yet, but I suspect Death Guard, GSC, and Wolves will be in the mix.
FYI, the Adepticon rules in a nutshell are as follows: CAD with HQ optional, 1-6 Troops, 0-1 of everything else, AV capped at 12, psychic powers capped at 1WC, no named characters, no LoW, no FW. Alternatively, I could bring a codex formation, but I haven't roughed out those lists yet.
Option 1: 395 points
Bike Command Squad w/ Apothecary, 4x Grav
Scout Squad w/ LSStorm, Assault Cannon, Melta-Bombs
Land Speeder w/ Multi-Melta, Typhoon Launcher
Option 2: 400 points
Librarian, Bike, Hunter's Eye
Bike Command Squad w/ Apothecary, 4x Grav
Scout Squad w/ LSStorm, Heavy Bolter
Option 3: 399 points
Librarian, Bike, Hunter's Eye
Bike Squad w/ Sergeant, Biker, 2x Grav Bikers
Scout Squad w/ LSStorm, Heavy Bolter, Melta Bombs
Land Speeder w/ Multi-Melta, Typhoon Launcher
Option 1 provides a hard-hitting grav biker Command, but no HQ to give Ignores Cover, 1 ObSec unit, and some good range and anti-tank from the Typhoon. Option 2 brings in the Librarian (although capped at 1WC powers) for Ignores Cover on all the grav, but gives up the Landspeeder's heavy weapons and longer ranges. Option 3 swaps out the Command for a smaller bike squad-- ObSec Troops thanks to the HQ, but with less grav to justify the Hunter's Eye and no Apothecary-- and leaves room for both the Scouts w/ LSS (a second ObSEc unit) and the Typhoon's heavy weapons.
I'm totally open to other builds; I have about 2000 points of White Scars in various stages of completion, so I have options. Thanks for your comments!
