That's pretty close to what I run for my Serpentis. The big issues I've run into are that you need to be very smart about picking your battles. It is really easy to get bogged down by larger units, or shredded by shooting.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking too, playing horde armies will be a nightmare

Since you're another Serpentis player, I now have a question for you. Something that has agonized me for ages.

Do you know what the point of the activated ability in the Ebondrake Warhost is? The one where you can declare charges.

Not at all!! If it was any hero phase then I could see the logic or if failed charges still moved you some distance. The rule as is makes zero sense to me....like it's my turn why would it be necessary? Re rolling ones to wound is the only reason I take it

Same here, and I'm glad that I'm not alone in that. I wonder if there is some way to contact GW about it.

Looked it up in the Grand Alliance book. Am pretty sure it's use is purely tactical: for if you get a double turn, fluffed the 3" charge previously, and want to mess with your opponent's head a little by making out of sequence charges.

How you manage that board setup and not get counter charged as an Order cavalry army is a little beyond me, but I am open to ideas.

If that ability had some sort of mortal wound-causing incentive tied to it, I might be more interested, but your both right that it's kinda worthless atm.

You can use it for a few things. Chariots can cause mortal wounds on a charge so if you have a unit of 2 or 3 throw them at a hoard unit and kill some fodder then shoot it up if you wanted.

Charge a unit then retreat the unit to deny an objective.

See if they could all attack in the hero phase if they charge then it would make sense, as then they could retreat as you said but to add a formation rule just for chariots baffles me when they're only 1-2 units in a 6+ unit battalion
