Shipping on some stuff seems a little rough so i thought I'd see if you guys know of any us based stores that have the same selection.

Amazon or miniature markets, there are stores that do import but i am not sure how much they charge for shipping, some japanese sites have English sections.

Nope.
As was said some of the stuff can be found on Amazon. The rest it's usually only from Japan or you can pay inflated prices on eBay or specialty stores.
I just use the slow shipping method at hlj or hobbysearch japan and the overall price usually ends up much cheaper than anywhere else. You've just got to be willing to wait.

I don't mind waiting. I just got a little nervous over a 1/100 gundam that was going to be 54 to ship due to the size it said.
Kind of stinks...

That sounds weird. Did they offer the SAL (or "Standard International Shipping) option? Sometimes it isn't available for a big item and it isn't trackable, but I've never had a problem with it.
Sometimes you can also get a lower shipping rate by simply retrying shipping. I got 30% knocked off a box of Votoms I ordered simply by retrying shipping a few times. That was a nice surprise!

1/100 MG MSN-04 Sazabi Ver. Ka
https://hlj.com/product/BAN985135
Attention: This item is too large to be shipped by Standard International Shipping (SAL Small Packet). It is not possible for it to be shipped by that class of mail.
ill have to try the shipping retry trick. Automatically Appended Next Post: i'm not much of a painter at all but from the couple of kits that ive bought it looks like they would be really easy to paint up.
i've seen some really beautiful kits done up.

There is a small number of the most expensive kits (both HGs and MGs) that come in simply too large a box to ship via small packet. That's an unfortunate fact.
For the vast majority, you can fit a single MG along with a single HG, or three to four HGs, in a packet. Even with shipping it comes to considerably less than if bought in the US, and about half of what it would cost in Europe.
For the record, I've used HobbyLinkJapan, HobbySearch, and AmiAmi. I highly recommend all three, excellent service!

Thanks -de-.
I was at epcot recently and saw that kit.
It was like 160 there so even with the higher shipping it was still considerably cheaper.

Great taste in Mobile Suits my good Sir!
I also got Amuro's Zeta ver Ka ( the white and pink one) and Full Frontal's MSN-06S ver Ka. They are really nice kits altho the Sazabi is by far my fav mobile suit out there....altho the Nu is kinda nice also...not as cool as the Sazabi tho...
I had a 1/144 Sazabi ( think that was the scale) but I've been keeping my eye's peeled for the 1/100th kit....altho a 1/60th PG would be fantastic also....
