Hello!
Spent evening reading through the crusade army list thinking about Iron Hands allies for my Mechanicum.

Question: is there a way to get Patris Cybernetica on a space marine commander that I've overlooked? I'm thinking of two tac squads with apothecaries for some durable scoring and like the idea of an HQ with a cortex controller joining a unit of Vorax.

Am I correct a Praevian doesn't work in an allied detachment since he has the support officer rule?

As allies this isnt possible, no the praevian is not allowed to be a compulsory hq due to support officer.

You may not be able to get Patris Cybernetica, but you can get a Cortex Controller in an Allied Detachment. Forge Lords can take them and don't have Support Officer, and Iron Warriors Warsmiths (Praetors with a specific upgrade) can have them too.

Khyr Valen (character Warsmith) and Autek Mor (character Iron Father) wouldn't be allowed in an Allied Detachment since they've got Jealous Command, but you could use Cassian Dracos Reborn, who doesn't have a Cortex Controller but does have Cybertheurgy (including a unique power that lets him take over enemy cortex-bots long enough to make a shooting attack with them).

Op yes both are correct. You are s.o.l. the only option with that rule can not be the compulsory choice. Also castellex w darkfire cannons and tank hunters instead of borax. Wink wink
