Can someone come up with a reason why dark eldar could fight alongside space marines (i prefer dw over regular marines).

Do they have to be sellswords?

Could they gang up to fight a common enemy?

I believe they are listed as "Come the Apocalypse" levels of allies, which is to say it requires the absolute worst of circumstances to work together. Maybe if Tyranids were consuming a world that both of them were stuck on, or daemonic incursion. But even then, the truce might not last the battle.

Best case scenario, an Eldar Farseer has gone mad and started summoning daemons of slannesh, and are preventing with magic the Dark Eldar and Space Marines from escaping. The Dark Eldar come to warn the Space Marines that unless they work together, both sides will be destroyed. Maybe it was brokered by a truce between a Space Marine and a Wych that fought for days in mortal combat yet could not beat each other.

You know, the Tau once made a deal with the Dark Eldar...

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

This is heresy of the worst sort. The Administratum WILL be informed of your heresy.

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.
