Afternoon all

I pose a question to you.

What's the card/s that you thought you would never use but you now?

Mine is Adaptability. When it was first released I questioned why you would drop (or increase) your pilots PS. But I soon realised that it's a poor man's vet instincts. Agreed not as good with only +/-1 but it does save you a point.

I can't figure why I'd want to drop the PS though. But yeah, if I can't fit a point in it's a take because of the poor man's VI it offers.

You might drop it to take advantage of the Simultaneous Fire rule with a pilot like Biggs. Or with a blocker to ensure you move before some other pilot.

It's also useful when taken for certain bomb loadouts, such as proximity mines, cluster mines and seismic torpedoes (my brother is an expert with these armaments)

For me, I've actually grown quite attached to Predator - but I mostly play in the Aluri Cluster co-op game where it THE elite pilot ability to take.

Its also quite nice in an aces list on someone like vader.

Ps8-9 enemy aces? Vader is ps10. Mwahaha.

Enemy tops out at PS7 (not uncommon) - reduce vader to Ps8, then he, the inquisitor, omega leader, etc can chop and change their activation order as needed, allowing omega leaderto get out of vader's way, or letting the inquisitor drop a targets shield before vader lands an automatic crit...

Well, using Asajj and Dengar, it helps a lot to drop Dengar's PS. Asajj is only PS6, but giving out stress and tractor beam tokens, she needs VI in order to get to a decent PS, and Dengar needs to go down one in order to get any use from her Tractor Beam tokens

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

I agree, having your pilots go a the same time gives an amount of flexibility that should not be ignored.

Somewhat tangential to this thread, do tou think there could be useful mileage out of a Correlian Conflict-type release, with tokens and pilot cards, to broaden the pilots using each ship and update some character allegiances? Try hard not to spoil Star Wars Rebels but... major shifts!

I'd be interested to see where FFG takes "Cardboard" expansions following the Correllian Conflict. It's probably cheaper than having to come up with reskins for every ship (as they would for an Aces pack). Especially since they could probably just do a quick port of the Correllian Conflict campaign rules, and potentially fix up and re-hype a bunch of older ships.

There's got to be a second edition at some point, surely? Some big cardboard based upgrade set for all cards that are revised or altered would seem like the only feasible way forward.

Well me personally i would like to but i could see the epic ships coming into it and we all know how people feel about them. rewriting the rules to Corellian Conflict isn't hard, i did it just the other day.

I'd like to see one, but I don't think FFG is planning on it.

Actually, if it is a true cardboard expansion (no ships, just cards, tokens, and obstacles), I think people would be okay with it. The main complaint about Epic ships is that you have to buy them to get certain cards (TIE/x1, Light Scyck, Palp, 3P0, new pilots, etc.), and they are not cheap. Based on CC, we might be talking $30.00, so basically an aces pack without getting extra models. This is about half the cost of a Transport, and so even if they write off the campaign elements (maybe due to epic ships), you are still coming out ahead of buying an epic ship and writing that off (as you are $40-$80 in the hole there, once reduced for the fighter).

And maybe, just maybe, they introduce a campaign scenario which makes the Epic ships people bought for the cards worth playing. Say, a scenario of "Defender gets free epic ship. Attacker wins if they destroy it". If you use the campaign to add armada-style objectives, and just leave the option to not use a certain objective if you don't have the required epic ship, this would be doable.

I wasn't even thinking about making the Epic jump into regular play... just updates to certain ships, with extra pilots. Again, trying hard not to spoil the last season of Rebels.

I'd be ok with re-hyping a bunch of old ships. For instance, I feel like the B-Wing, aside from the odd Keyan build or the staple Blue Squadron generic, is ripe for some cool shenanigans.

Yeah, even using the original trilogy, there's design space for some of the ships or cards in other factions - Han & Lando as Scum, a TIE FO/SO with Poe (& Finn), Fulcrum, etc.

I'd put in some ideas for squadron cards (ace + 2 generics) some time back, I really would like to see something like that, and ships with slightly altered stats or dials (perhaps via a Title, say T-65A, TIE/S, etc.) could give some new life to various ships.

"Fulcrum" as a Rebel crew card, would be very cool.

Fenn Rau as a Rebel pilot would be fun. Hobbie and Wedge as A-wing pilots, Some new Gold Squadron pilots might be interesting. Ketsu as a Rebel, just like they are planning to do with Nym. And it's all just a cardboard expansion. They could even call it "The Rebels years," or even "The road to Rogue One."
