Have become an Ultramarine fan since I got my eyes on Warhammer 40k the first time back 4.5 years ago and have formally started playing 2.5 years, the new book "Rise of the Primarch" caught my eyes and glad that my long owned army got a specific detachment, warlord trait and relics at last.

However, after reading the book, I somehow got second though: Outside od playing fluffy, is the Victrix Strike Force worth taking over the Gladius Strike Force? I am not quite sure. It is certain that offering free transports in Gladius is a very very solid buff to the marines, even though Ultramarines benefited less than the White Scar with Khan, it is still great. On the other side, the Vitcrix Strike Force offered its own benefit, outside of the only Loyalist Primarch in 40K, what is unique to the Victrix Strike Force are: every infantry and bikers are Obsec (even great if it confers to Land Raiders chosen as dedicated transport for the Terminator of 1st Company Task Force?). The other one being allows you using multiple Doctrines in combination which I think is great because it increases the efficiency of multiple different type of unit, it even more benefit an overwhelming strike of the majority of the army in one or two turns, like enacting Devastator Doctrine and Tactical Dorctrine at the some turn, to have Lascannon Devastators twin linked their weapons to open up enemy transports and allow mulitple freshly landed tactical squad to take off the passangers inside. This are defintely good, but would this surpass the free transport buff in Gladius Strike Force? Especially considering that with this buff, the number of tough Obsec units that Gladius can put on the table may just be more than that of the Vitcrix.

What's disappointed me the most is the composition formation of the Vitcrix, where I have expected to see "Skyhammer Annilhation Formation" as Auxiliaryin the Ultramarine detachment, since I thought that the Ultramarine Chapter Tactic fits this ultimate alpha strike formation perfectly, and it is some how not as efficient taken by other SM Chapter, However, unlike Medusa Strike Force and Sternhammer Strike Force, what we get different from basic Gladius Strike Force is just moving the Strike Force Ultra onto the Core Formation thus allowing you take many Ultramarine Terminators, a Land Raider and a Stormraven, which is, er, all are not that good in the current meta, and all cannot be efficiently buffed by Ultramarine Chapter Tactics.

So I consider this, provided enough choices, would Victrix ever be a good replacement of Gladius? Looking for the views and opinions from Ultramarine veterans , as well as any other players of 40k

No, free transports is definitely the way to go.

In most situations, you won't need to activate two doctrines in the same turn anyways.
