I recently bought a second-hand Skrag the Slaughterer (now simply known as "butcher" on the GW Website) and it's the old metal version. Most of it's already cleaned, assembled and it's gaps filled, but the chains were left off. I know how it's suppose to fit on, but I'm unsure of how to go about gluing it. Should I glue the end to the pot first and then bend the chain to conform to Skrag, or the other way around? it's kinda like playing with a seesaw trying to dry fit and bend it.

Also, should I glue the chains on first and then glue the pieces to the base (and thus using the chain's bendability to give me a bit of leeway?) or should both be glued on and then the chains glued on?

Thanks.

If you place the pot on the base where it should be and then skraggs feet on their spots. They lay perfectly between the two with no bending needed they are taut.

I need to go to work every day.

I tried that at first but I think the previous owner may have bent them slightly. They don't line up perfectly anymore.

I can try to roll them back out straight or something.

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

I built a metal one and for me the key is getting the kettle to set into the base properly. Play around with it by feel until you find the proper location for it to sit. You'll know it when you've got it. Then place the piece that connects the chains...and blends into...the kettle in it's "slot" on the kettle and put Skrag on his marked spot and carefully and slowly adjust the chains to fit into Skrag's back where they should connect. The beauty of metal is that it can be manipulated without all the back-and-forth heating and bending nonsense required with Finecast. Just take your time with the chain, it's durable but not unbreakable. Slow and steady wins this race and get that kettle in the right position first.

FYI, I used a miniscule amount of poster putty to hold the kettle and Skrag in place while I was getting the positioning of the models and chain sorted.

Tried this and it sorta worked. However after much kerjiggering I feel like maybe the chains shrunk during casting, cuz no matter how I bend them they never reach the appropriate length. I sorta just eyeballed it to where Skrag's flesh is being tugged.
