Thought we could kick around some thoughts, opinions, sketches in crayon about these folks.

My main interest in an army is the models. I like the Grymkin sculpts but oddly I don't feel they match the rest of their line. I don't mean they don't fit the world of the Iron Kingdoms but the style of the sculpting itself.

That said unlike the heavy with the cages (Cage Eager?), The Tougne Hound but not sold on the Pumpkin Guys.

I feel that despite being an army where units are deliberately different they really need a strong paint scheme to tie them together as a whole army.

We haven't seen the entire range yet - i really want to see the Death Knell as I loved the art work.

Has anybody played some CID with them? What are your thoughts?

I agree they're not a great match for the rest of the line - and given how Convergence have been handled I doubt they'll take off in the same way.

Still, some skilled sculpts in there, and maybe a great painter can tie all the threads together!

PP have said that they plan to do more of these minii-factions. I think that decreases the chances of the likes of Convergence getting anything new.

Reading their playtest rules I think they have some cute tricks like the Dreamer placing an src node whe an enemy is boxed in her Control Range, there is a fair amount of recursion in the army, and particularly with the way Arcana work the designers clearly want to me the opponent second guess themselves.

About the colour scheme - I noticed that all of the armies we have seen so far that are painted by members of the studio have use some sort of ghostly effect - in one case actually modelling fire onto most models - in order to give a supernatural appearance.

Otherwise they do look a lot like the generic monsters from A N Other RPG world rather than 'the tortured nightmares of those cast into hell'

I'll be buying them. I really like the Malifaux aesthetic of it. At best, I get a small, self contained army with an aesthetic I like and might get to try a game I've been curious about for a while against others in my group who play.

At worst, I get some more models to use with Malifaux as proxies and Through the Breach and some fun horror models to paint.
