Welcome to our group the 'Wardens of the Maelstrom' Adepticon blog for posting our thoughts, pics, battle reports and general experences.

The last couple of years our group has passed on the team tourney, so we have had more time to do other things. This year we discovered Xw-Wing. Silver Tower and 30K.
This year I did the Titanicus and the long war event. Got Ramos to add some transfers to my Reaver.Looks awesome - Thanks Ramos!
All around good event. Next year I'll be looking at getting demo of Arena Rex. I love the design of then minis.

As soon as I get my pictures off my camera I'll update with some event content, Post away Wardens...

All I have to say about the Knight Fight is that you either go big or go home. None of this skulking around nonsense!

On the trip home today, my wife was asking if we could get a pair of knights to paint up. I told her how much they cost, and she shrugged and said, "So?".

Well sold!

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Thanks for playing and welcome to the Warders.

She did well. She held her own on that side of the table.

Started put playing the Titannicus battle. Here is our line up. Cool thing is that all but one of us five all were painted from the Same Titan Legion

Our Leader

My contribution

Our Allies.... A pair of Close combat Reavers...Gutsy move indeed

Our other member was a Warhound that survived the entire game and seriously caused a lot of havoc behind enemy lines.

Very cool event. I'd do this again for sure...

Ok… Let’s do some Titannicus…Our field of Battle

The good Guys Line up..1 Warlord, 3 Reavers and a Armor Cast Warhound.

Our Leader goes to WAR!

Very cool CC titan. The Old ball and chain…

Eldar Starting position.. You can’t see the one other small titan which deployed on the other side of their board.

Eldar Heavys hold the center left.

Posted this on my blog, but I thought I'd put it here too in case there were some fresh eyes...

Looking through my photos I decided I had enough to do a "Knight Fight" battle report of sorts.

Things you need to know about the rules...
- There were up to 14 knights on the table at once.
- It was a "Resurrection Battle", so any knights destroyed could immediately enter the fray again in the next turn.
- The turn you entered you could only run.
- Rules were simplified, but not so much that the individual knight configurations lost their character.
- Movement was simplified.... move 12", run 12", charge 12" (unless your knight had some special rule... like my lancer which was allowed to run 18")
- Victory points were awarded based on hull points removed from opposing knights in shooting or assault. Having your own knight explode & then the explosion doing hull points to your opponents did NOT count towards your total.
- The table was huge (three standard long-tables put together) with amazing, really large terrain which absolutely made the game as cool as it was.
- Turns were done like Tie Fighter... only with playing cards, so if you moved first you'd shoot last & visa-versa.

In fairness I missed the first turn or two as RiTides & I came in late.... so unfortunately I don't have a pic of the original deployment.
I also want to apologize for the wonkiness of the colors in these photos. My phone camera is damaged and it's color processor is obviously not working properly any more, so I did the best I could to address it... but it's kind of random.

This is how things stood when I finally got to the game, both sides... fully engaged across an urban battlefield. The team I was assigned to is the one on the left. Master Azalle was our "king". I should point out that Ramos painted the red and blue knights, Solar_lion painted the pruple knights and the orange knight atropos(?) and Nerdfest the silver knight atropos(?). I'm pretty sure the black knight near the top of the photo was Azalle's.

Azalle told me to just charge forward until I hit something... so that's exactly what I did. For those of you unfamiliar with the FW knight lancer... it's a knight specifically designed to kill other knights. It's not very good at anything else... but it fulfills it's primary mission extremely well.

Here I am after running deep into the enemy's deployment zone facing off against Lorek and his charming lady's knight.

During my activation, I charged into the blue knight, destroying it. During his, Lorek charged into me... We brutalized one-another, leaving my lancer on 2 HP and his knight on 1. The following phase the lancer finished him off and narrowly escaped being destroyed itself due to it's shield which can be used for a 5+ invul in close combat.

Here is Solar_lion laying down the law. It was a bit chaotic with the way each knight was activated... but it was a TON of fun! He worked really hard on making this happen, thanks man. The guy in the green is the gentleman who made all this amazing terrain and allowed us to use it for hours after he'd planned on taking it down (for a fee of course). SL's trying to convince him to sponsor the event next year (where we hope to make it official) by providing the terrain for us to use without cost.

Here are some famous Dakkanaughts enjoying themselves during the game. It looks posed almost but this was just a random shot.... as you can see things were pretty intense. There are three mods in this photo, though I'll let you guess who is who.

What follows are a couple of shots of the general melee. Just sit back and enjoy the cool models on this amazing table!

Finally, the resurrections stopped... and most of us left on the table had very few hull points left. Now it's a fight to the death. From left to right... Ice Angel, Solar_lion, SL's brother Joel, Lorek and I. (the knight way in the back at the edge of the table is not in-play)

SL's knight gets gunned down, I charge and take out Lorek's blue knight... leaving Ice and I to face Joel. Keep in mind that Joel's knight has more hull points than both Ice and my Knights combined. At this point I went for an outflank to try and hem Joel in and prevent him from being able to shoot at and potentially kill both of us in one turn.

Joel's knight falls back the only way it can, but is eventually caught by Ice Angel. The two destroy each other in a fiery conflagration of man and machine... leaving my Lancer as the last knight standing and the only one that was never actually destroyed.

Hope you enjoyed the report. Solar is still tweaking the system and hopes to offer it as an official event next year. Perhaps 2 tables, 10 knights each.

Since were on the Knight Fight trail… LARGE POST!
The table and the first deployment.. Most of the shots I took are from this side of the table as that is where My Knight ( Orange Atropos ) was entering.

Rather than do a play by play I’ll just post the picks and you can do the sound effects in your head.

I went right at it.. finished off the blue Knight and left just 1 HP on the second before being obliterated. Luckily Cleansing fires IK was behind me ready to clean up.

WM as the champion went right after Our champion ( Ice Angel ).. Smack talk ensued.

The Kings meet in the center and destroy themselves.

After my untimely death, I re-entered the game, this time looking to match my Atropos up against Ritides Atropos ( which was painted by the very talented Nerdfest – a thing of beauty – So it must Die )

What a great paintjob. However thanks to my Las cutter and His poor dice rolling I take him out.. Only to be picked off by his comrades.

Git’s Lancer on the Hunt..

Targets found

Cleansing Fires ‘Surprise Im on your flank’

There were 14 knights on the table.

Cleansing Fire getting shot from behind. Surprise back at ya!

Once again I go toe to toe with multiple knights..

However I never make it into the charge as WM shreds my face with his rapid fire gun. %#*!@#. Smart move as my Las cutter does any insane amount of CC damage

Gone am I

Gits gets stuck in

Joel controlling the servitors with his mind!

Street Level shot

And the last final moments as Ice and Gits chase down the remaining Knight ( Joel ). Ironicily he had an opportunity to take out both but alas the dice were fickle and he and Ice clashed blowing them both up leaving the Field to Gits.

As we Tallied up the carnage, Lorek came out as the winner.

Thanks to all who played. Special mention to Janet as she was roped in to be the 14 person so the teams were even. She did a great job for being a new comer and remarkably held her own against the 'Boys'.
Winner of the Smack talk goe to the 2 champions WM and Ice. However I cannot repeat most of it without getting banned from Dakka. Least to say there was some funny commentary!
FInding this table was an amazing addition. It looked great and added to the overall theme of giant machines striding through an Urban city.
Thanks for all the Wardens for the help with all the rule suggestions. I'll put out a second edition when I get them on paper.
Like Git mentioned in his previous post I'll try to do this as an event next year. Lot to do before then.

More Adepticon event stuff to come.

Solar_Lion, thank you so much for setting this up and inviting us!

I only came out on top because I Leroy Jenkins'd it, and ended up with hot dice. Don't mistake that for any sort of skill!

Thanks for making this, Solar! Here are my pics

The Wardens, with only two non-Dakkanauts pictured! (Lorek's wife and Solar's brother) Unfortunately Brent missed the pic, so we need to photoshop

The amazing counts-as army by Dakkanaut weirdingway, you can see his P&M blog here:

And my two shots of the Knight Fight! First, Atropos mirror match between Solar and myself, with Ice Angel watching

And finally, the showdown for all the marbles with Ice Angel (hiding in back, not pictured ) Solar and Gits, versus Lorek and Joel. Lorek made a heroic last stand, and Joel orchestrated a tactical retreat, but when it was all said and done Ice Angel sacrificed himself and Gits was left as the only titan standing!

I had an incredible time, and really appreciate the help you guys gave me at the booth! I also really enjoyed meeting/hanging with other Dakkanauts - kronk, Master Azalle, Polonius, Mannahnin, Yorkright, etc! It is awesome to have such a tight-knit community even at big conventions, really makes the event for me

Your welcome and thanks for the suggestions. Enjoyed spending tome with good like minded gaming people. Got to try some new things and played in some great events. Too bad this is only once a year!

The Modbits are addictive to play with. It was fun to see just what people made with them when turned loose.

I agree with RiTides... you could pull that off.

Found a few more pics...

This is my friend's Necron army. Not painted for Dakka-style magnification, but beautiful on the tabletop.

Very pretty demon army.

Some 30k action.

My Onager Dunecrawler settles on a high point to try and fend off the Necron advance.

Wow, that knight fight is truly epic.

But the real standout is that AMAZING terrain! That really made the battle something special. Not many tables could accommodate all those knights and make a game interesting with blocked movement and fire lanes like that. Great stuff!
