Buy their codex, then decide which option you want to use.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Flamers are fun, but you have to get close to use them. Their blades are VERY nice, but the rhino is not an assault vehicle so you have to do some planning on how to get them to the combat/charge.

Bolters to me are a waste unless you plan to stick them in cover to just give their anti caster bubble to an area. (Just my two cents)

I've read a lot of people saying flamers are best if you're going to run them in Rhinos, they'll get close in relative safety, and they'll just have to disembark to fry some psykers.

Flamers are great defensive weapons as well. All the choices are meh but flamers are best the beat choice.

Something to consider is if you are taking SOS as a supplement to a larger force or on their own. On their own it's important to be able to do damage like any other army, but as an allied detachment prioritizing their survival may be more important; allowing their psychic denial to work for longer while the rest of your army kills your opponent. Defensively I think the swords are nice for a unit camping on an objective, at-initiative AP2 with their number of attacks will enable you to menace any obsec units that try to usurp you. Flamers will do well against hordes, but those are rare while MEQs are commonplace. Bolters are the worst choice, but flamers or swords are both good options.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

I like the swords now that they've gotten a cost decrease. The instance where the sisters would want to exit their rhino with the new detachment is pretty high, I can see popping them out onto an objective or behind LOS just to boost up the number of units you have on the board to increase Psychic abomination's range.

At that point, the sisters are a little glass cannon bomb that's not the easiest thing in the world to remove with 3+ armor, as opposed to 5 piddly little bolters. If the flamers are a melee deterrent, the swords are an even BETTER melee deterrent..for a significant points decrease.

Plus, let's be real. They look amazing, and you need an excuse to build them with swords, not a reason.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Amen to that, I'll build ten of them with Greatswords to complement my AdMech, that'll do nicely as a small CC unit. Still wondering about two 5 squads or one 10 squad.

for 20... I would probably do 5 bolter, 10 flamer, 5 sword. the sword ones I would buy a rhino but only as a null zone rhino. footslog them with something durable hq wise and melee deadly (or in a land raider with footslogging captain smashfetdcher, bonus if iron hands with gorgon chain. bolter ones give backfield psychic denial amd their rhino is also mobile psychic denial that they have to waste points shooting. pop smoke behind cover turn 1
