This will seem like a very odd request, but I wanted to see if anyone was aware of a sci-fi line of miniatures that resembled the generic shock troopers in the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie.

Google hasn't yielded anything too great so I thought I would ask people who might be familiar with lines that might look a bit similar. Obviously I'm not expecting an exact match, but considering I've seen things that look like troopers from V, Cylons from the original BSG, and even Sarkdaukar from Lynch's Dune movie, I'm hoping to get lucky.

I would prefer 28mm to match up with Imperial Assault and other miniature lines, but I'm open to most anything.

Thanks!

How close is close, and how much work per mini? Would kitbashing Dreamforge Eisenkern with Samurai heads and perry/Fireforge knight faces work?

Not 28mm, probably a swine to actually find, but an exact match ....

Ha!

I actually have a lot of these troopers in Masters of the Universe Classics form (6 inch action figures).

As for how much customizing I could do, I could probably do head swaps, but not a lot else.

I had rejected the Eisenkern before because the heads look too much like Star Wars stormtroopers.

Which is presumably why Bob suggested the samurai/knight headswap.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Yeah, the Eisenkern with a headswap from some resin bits manufacturer, like Anvil or Puppets War would seem like the most logical solution to achieve this look. They're lovely minis, too.

I'd look into converting some Warzone minis (I believe I've seen some Bahaus who had a similar vibe to these).

I think you'd need some green stuff on the face masks, but it doesn't look like it would be very hard or time consuming.

My first thought also leapt to modified Eisenkern with medieval bits.

The helmet is reminiscent of a German stahlhelm, which was somewhat derived for the medieval sallet.

For futuristic helmets of that type, I'd also lean towards Eisenkern or Dust Tactics. For medieval helmets, I think Perry Miniatures has quite a good range, which includes sallets (not sure about scale).

I also found these, which are fantasy goblin sallets:
Spoiler:

According to this topic they make decent human helmets.

Anvil industries also has this sallet "type" helmet with a face mask:

Definitely think you are right about the later medieval/German style with the armour. In fact, looking at this I would say the props for the film probably came from that - mix of a medieval armour plate and the top of a Japanese Ashi-Garu or Samurai helm.

For the medieval perhaps try the Perry War of the Roses or Hundred year war plastic men-at-arms kit. I'm not sure where you could get the upper element of a Japanese medieval helmet from - Warlord Games now carry a plastic kit but think the heads are moulded with the helmets which would make conversion a pain. You might be better off with one of the specific casts shown above, although I would be cautious of proportion as the Perry plastic men-at-arms are realistically (rather than heroically) proportioned, and you don't want pumpkin heads

How about Eisenkern with these heads;
intended for use on ww2 Germans, but may work?
