hello gents.

This project took me five weeks to collect the bitz and about five hours to put together.

I'ts not painted yet because I just finished it and I might allow it to get bought since thee's already been some interest.

either way here it is, the Wolf's Heart and yes I know it's not even kind of game legal.

this was alot of fun to build, looking forward to the next big project.

Someone said I should have gone with Orks, cause then it would be legal and I could have done more, but Orks and chaos are easy to bitz bash, Imperial stuff is harder cause it has to fit a standard pattern, at least to some degree.

I think it would have been stellar (and even reasonable) with about 1/2 that many guns/turrets. As is, it's kind of caricature of a 40K vehicle. The build looks quality though.

lol, I disagree, there's not enough weapons on this beast, but it's true there is a point of too much..

I'd agree with there being a few too many gun mounts to really hit the "Imperial" look. I'd also say you need a couple more plates or detail or something to hide the seams a bit better on the front hull-they kinda jump out on the 2nd look at being "yep, we glued two rhinos to each other." Rear turret could use to be a bit bigger, but not sure how you'd achieve that, honestly. That said, pretty nice work, the general shape doesn't look bad at all, and its going to look suitably impressive as a centerpiece if nothing else.

Nice job!
I really like the length of the barrels (IMO the length of the gunbarrels on alot of 40K weapons is too short and fail to impress)

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

your right about the seems, when it comes time to paint, I'll go back with some green stuff.

thanks for the comments. I'll be posting pics of the 18000 space wolf army that goes with it here shortly.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
so here's the army that goes with the tank, I started collecting Space wolves in 1991 but only got really serious about having a big army a couple of years ago. I also picked up about 10000 points worth only last month so that's why most of the army is only primed. But all the bitz bashing is done and i have more then a few customized units. The army itself is somewhere between 15000 and 20000 points and worth at least $10000. Sorry the pics arre crappy, but you get the idea.

doesn't that look perfect there in the middle.

these Thunder wolves are the only thin I have done, but it's a start, I do alot of commission work in my neck of the woods so painting batches of 20 to 50 space wolves, doesn't happen often enough.

If I get these all finished before I die of old age I'll post some good pics of the finished army.

The only point on that behemoth that really doesn't sit well with me is that narrow waist part where the plasma cannons are sitting. Runner up is the severely limited arc of fire for the modified Demolisher cannon.

lol, you gamers.

I haven't played the actually game in over a decade so to me it's more about the look then the practical use, I've already been told by several people that this tank would never be game legal which again is fine with me, even if i have to use it as a piece of scenery, you got to admit it's better then a hill.

Awesome! Reminds me of a boss in one of those top down arcade games of the 80s/90s.

If anyone says you can't use it, run them over with it.. its big enough.

Has a bit "where we're going we don't need rules" vibe, love it, fits the wolves perfectly as I see it, utterly over the top and then some.

Love the model as well, its the sort of thing 40k should be, insane kit bashes and scratch builds that drop jaws.

thanks,

after 27 years of doing GW hobbies, you got to keep it interesting just like a long marriage.

here's some WIP pics of the tank.

orginally I was playing with different weapon combos.

and these were the bitz I collected to do the project in the first place, didn't cost me anymore then shipping but took five weeks to gather.

and this is where I started.

oh and here's another totally unusable kit bash, it's a storm raven rhino drop carrier. I think?

started with a broken model as some of my projects do.

lastly, if you liked those you got to dig this Flying dreadnought, did I say I don't care what's legal or not?

more to come.

Anyone who refuses to play against that dreadnaught needs their head examining, that one model is 40k in a single picture, at least what 40k used to be before it all got a bit too serious really.

Thats the sort of picture that would get people to actually start gaming

thanks, after 27 years it's hard to keep coming up with new stuff, but the bitz speak to me.

on that note I meant to mention that the spru I took the Bane Blades parts off of was printed in 2007, which means it took ten years for this model to get to where it ended up, interesting, I think.

here's another resent bitz bash, I wish I could take a better pic but it was for a commission and is since gone.

and then there was this guy who was also a commission and is since gone.

I think I might start a WIP thread here.
