Hi

I'm super new to Infinity have only played through the Operation Icestorm games but me being me I'm about to sign up for a tournament and need lots of help.

The tournament is 300 points,N3/HSN3 ITS tournament and each army must contain a TAG.

Advice on lists and how to use them would be great and also what else I need to pick up, including the rulebook, do I need both?

Models I have or will have ordered for my initial pool although I know I will need more (including a tag!), I'll also be ordering the Fat Yuan Yuan as well

Welcome to the Nomad Nation. For TAGs you've got a few options:

1. Lizard. This guy has no frills. Typical TAG armor, and BTS, multi-HMG. Where it shines is the HGL option. This lets you lob grenades indirectly (full order, spec fire) up to 32" hitting at -6 from your formidable shooting skill of 14.
2. Szalamandra. This guy is a straight up active turn monster with its high burst HMRC. It needs protection on ARO turn though, as that beastly gun only gets one shot in ARO. Her pilot is a hacker to boot.
3. Iguana. With the ejector seat, the Iguana craps out a heavy infantry with HMG when it dies. It trades this for having less armor than usual and its pilot is not a specialist, and therefore less flexible in missions than other TAGs being that he's a killy sort. The Iguana is a repeater however.
4. Gekkos are used like super-heavy infantry. Don't treat them like normal TAGs as things that kill TAGs will chew them up.

Side note: I'd recommend taking an engineer to keep your TAG running if you are taking anything heavier than the Gekko due to your points investment.

1. Clockmaker. This guy has no frills except a disgusting WIP of 15. He rarely fails to fix. He'll need a zondbot though, as he's squishy.
2. Zoe and Pi-Well. Zoe is a super clockmaker who is also a hacker. Pi-Well is a super stempler zond with ODD. These guys are great and a steal for their points.
3. Tomcat Engineer. This guy has airborne deployment, meaning he can slide in from a board edge later in the game. Well equipped with climbing plus and a flamethrower/rifle combo, he's a solid fighting engineer.
4. Carlota. Basically a super version of the above. She's packing a zondcat by default, glue gun and +1WIP over the regular Tomcat.
5. Wildcat. This guy is the fightiest engineer. He's a medium infantry so if you take this one, definitely give him a zondbot. IMHO, unless you are taking an offensive Wildcat link in Corrigedor, the Tomcat is a better choice.

WARNING: Yuan Yuan is not a usable profile in any Nomads army!

Thanks keezus thats given me loads of things to think about.

I was going to go for the Lizard tag but then saw the model hmm maybe not, I'm a painter first and player second! So I choose the Iguana

I went with Carlota for my engineer she seems very good.

This is the list I'm looking at currently

Im new also...

But you can upgrade one of your Alguacil to Forward Observer and Deployable Repeater for 12pts, that will increase your hack range.

or give the Reverend Healer a zondbot to remote heal for 3 pt

Thanks

Here's my idea behind the list

The Bandit will infiltrate and go after the tag with either hacking or her Adhesive Launcher, this gives options for Carlota to either stay back and repair the Iguana or drop in and D-charge the opponents TAG after its been stuck down by the bandit!

The Healer will be with the two Alguacil's and the Brigada Lieutenant going up the field laying down fire with the Iguana.

This leaves the Sniper and Brigada with missile launcher giving the long range firepower.

Sounds like the organizer is looking to run the TAGLINE tournament pack. You should read the missions to see what is necessary. I think that you should try to have 10 orders in the pool that has the TAG... either for moving the TAG or fixing it.

Your list has 8 orders that can go to the TAG, as the Bandit doesn't give an order to the pool. 7 orders if Carlota is in reserve. 5 on the first turn if your opponent is going second and reduced your pool by 2. If you had a full 10 orders, you would have 7 on turn 1... which is almost 50% better than what you have now!

You also have predominantly Corrigidor models in your list, other than the Grenzer and the Rev. Healer. Have you considered running your army as Jurisdictional Command of Corrigidor? This would let your line troopers form a fireteam, greatly improving their effectiveness and making them a strong ARO threat.

It also gives you access to intruders, who are a great second active turn attacking piece.

Lastly, (and I just noticed this, as I normally play Bakunin), is that Corrigidor has a harris fireteam with jaguars and Senior Massacre. Massacre seems to have an ok loadout for fighting TAGs due to his EM grenades. Food for thought.

Thanks again keezus

I've had a bit more of a play using just models from the Jurisdictional Command of Corrigidor army list and have come up with the below giving me a link team. I want to keep the bandit hacker as she seems quite useful although the order issue might cause me trouble. I didnt want to go for a load of Jaguars and Senior Massacre as I'm trying to keep the model count that requires painting quite low as I have another tournament the same month which I need to paint about 90 models for (I have two months )

A Corrigor army could (theoretically) contain four Geckos in two two-man links and a four-five man link of Alguacile specialists.
Now, I know it does not sound like much at first - but take another look at it. You have four light TAG's, two with twin Combi Rifles and two with MK12's. Supporting these you have between four and five specialist/support troops. Every model generates and order and the TAG's activate in groups of twos. You have 8-9 orders, plenty for the TAGline scenarios, and four Tags to keep you in the firefight.

Actually, you have enough points left for a small scale specialist AND 5 Alguaciles. Enjoy your 10 order TAG links.

That would be quite interesting something like this, I might try this another time will need to pick up some Geckos first!

Thanks for the suggestion

No problem, and please let me know how it works if you do, its been a build I have been wanting to run now for ages. Just make sure that you group Geckos of the same type together (IE; MK12 with MK12, Combirifles with Combirifles, etc)

I might also suggest dropping a Heavy Weapon Alguacile for a Tomcats Engineer with a Zondcat, or a clockmaker with a Zondbot, to allow you to repair your TAG's and keep them running throughout.

What's the advantage in grouping weapon types on the Gekkos? I would think that you'd want one of each in each group so you can MK12 on active turn in both links.
