I ran across these guys in the Miniature Market bargain bin a few years ago and bought a few. What I found was pretty hideous looking miniatures, something 2000 Wizkidsish.

The concept was really cool though Han vs. Roman vs. Egyptian. Anyone think the game would have survived if the miniatures looked better? I never played the game, so I can't judge the gameplay.

Our gaming club went mental for it for a brief couple of months in 2010. It was a lot of fun, but the online unit designer was very easy to minmax and we ended up with some people with very powerful forces (raises hand) ripping casual people apart, even with exactly the same models.

As well as suffering from that, there was very little new model movement beyond wave 1, I recall some stupidly large siege stuff coming out but never saw it in person. It's hard to generate interest when you've got nothing new coming out.

The mechanics were simple and made for quick, fun games. I've still got all my stuff somewhere as it was easy to pack away into quite a small box. Dunno if anybody else local kept theirs and I don't expect to ever actually play it again though.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

It was a very, very fun game. Quick, accessible, and maybe even ahead of its time in terms of how friendly it was to non-traditional war-game players.

That said, the components are trash, and it immediately lost any community it very briefly had. I still own literally crates of it, which I can't give away. :-p

Well, if you're giving it away...

I used a bunch of Arcane Legions minis to make some KOW armies. If you snip off the tab, the AL bases fit in the round hole in a Mantic base, so that's what I did. Of course, KOW turned out to be too complicated for family playing, so I kind of wish I'd kept the tabs and the formation punch-cards...

But yeah, if the minis had been 28mm and any good the game might have had legs just from the niches the factions filled.

If you're willing to pay shipping Bob, they're yours. :-p Problem is, they weight a ton. They gave out their movement trays like they were candy and they add soooooo much bulk.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have some Han somewhere but'll hold on to them.

Nice... Love the comradery here. I should mention that I'm willing to give away boxes and boxes of early 1990's Score, Proset, Fleer Ultra and Topps hockey cards if someone pays shipping. You really can't give away those!!!
