Hi Guys

So my FLGS is holding a league for this fine game

So I am trying to decide which Kill Team I want to bring.. We did some intro and prac games last night, I played standard tabletop Warriors and man they are strong

Having been playing Necromunda/Gorkamorka for years I am wanting to paly something a bit harder to paly so far I have gotten myself down to two possible lists

Tyranid Warriors
(using Lictors for Kewl)

Alpha - Rnd Claws, Ext Cara, Adl Gland

Warrior - Rnd Claws, Ext Cara, Adl Gland

New-spawn - Rnd Claws, Ext Cara, Adl Gland

New-spawn - Rnd Claws, Ext Cara, Adl Gland

So a pure CC force, but pretty much immune to pining and multi wounds

Or

Genestealer Cult
(Using Delaque minis)

Leader - Bolt Pistol, Chainsword

Heavy - Hvy Stubb, Photo-visor

Heavy - Flamer

Trooper - Shotgun

Trooper - Shotgun

Trooper - Lasgun

Initiate - Autogun

Initiate - Autogun

Initiate - Auopistol

Initiate - Autopistol

The weaker bit more shooty option

Warriors look nasty, plus I've always liked their models. If it was me, I would go with them.

I've played two SW:A games so far. One using Tyranids, the other GSC. I'm a long term Necromunda player, so I at least have some familiarity with a campaign

I only used 3 Tyranids, one with a Venom Cannon. With (BS4, S6 ,and 2D3 sustained fire dice), it was the MVP. But, if you loose it during a campaign, you cannot replace a Specialists. In any case, you have to have some shooting. On the other hand, Tyranids are going to be a top tier team. At least at the beginning of the campaign. I don't see how some armies will deal with them. Like your Genestealer Cult (and mine). Accidentally "misplace" half the terrain in the game room?

My hope for GSC is numbers matter. They get up to 15. Fifteen mediocre fighters. Avoid Orks at all costs.

Actually, you can replace a Gunbeast; get Scavenger on your Leader, and with a Proethium Cache you have up to 250 points to spend on Reinforcements. That'' buy you a Gunbeast with a pair of spinefists. Next game, replace those spinefists with a bio-cannon (using another Promethium Cache).

Not very likely, and not cheap. But, possible.

Because you have 6" movement with the Adrenaline Gland and you can't be pinned...I'm very curious how you do with this list without any fire support like a Venom Cannon. Please let us know how that Tyranid list does!

I actually agree with Gobbo; I found with a melee-focused list you needed some sort of long-range to prevent people just kiting you, etc. I had played, then scrapped a pure melee Ork list in favour of having some shooting just to respond to those situations. But that's only because Orks move a mere 4" and could be pinned.

Good hunting, please let us know how it goes!

@ Kommissar.

I would like to see the Nids list. However, armies like the Harlies do not have a long range. Max 16".

But then again, we have a 4++, but that doesn't work out much worse than T5 with 3 Wounds. Movement 6 is often overlooked, most armies cannot keep away. Either they move and lose LOS or they dont move enough to make a difference. Plus lots of the higher strength weapons such as snipers require set up. Ie no moving.

Am I wrong?

Well played the nids in a friendly game the other day against CSM.. tore them up..

Basically hugged cover and Hid a fair chunk, then charged in and won combat with ease.. took 6 turns, but worked fine

I would have trouble using them on a table that didn't have enough cover..

Also the fact that you are running and charging 12" is huge

So thought I would do another update about the CC Tyranid List..

Went to an 1 day event.. and ripped it up.

The warriors with Adl Glands did really well on the scavenger mission, as I had 1 duder basically grab 3 loot counts in a single move then headed back to the deployment zone after.. Dat 12" run..

But also managed to rip it up hard.. only game I lost was a raid where I had a single warrior.. and I decided to break the door in melee and do a runner.. The Tau player got a lucky hit and then managed 3 damage.. after wards I realised I should of just gone around the taken out all then sentries in CC.
