How many times have you heard "What are they again?" "what's in that transport?" "what weapon is that again?"

Well, fun idea, choose a number between 2-5 (You'll need to write this down and put it somewhere your opponent can see it, but not read it, i.e. upside down, or folded paper. (Alternatively, use a playing card)

Make the asker roll a D6

on a 1, you keep stum
on a 2-5 other than the number you picked, you tell the truth, but only some, i.e. they're infantry.
on the number you picked you get to lie
on a 6, you have top tell them everything they want to know about the unit.

Thoughts?

More dice to roll, more paperwork, open for all kinds of abuse. I'm not a fan.

Yeah, that's a really bad rule.

It means that a new player will only have a 1/6 chance of getting any useful information?

"What's in that transport?"
"A unit."

"What's that gun do?"
"Shoot things."

"Is that unit especially dangerous?"
"More than some units, less than others."

Funny for a random one-off, not funny to have sitting around all the time.

If everything in your army is WYSIWYG and you have a player who's not new to the game, the only thing I'd agree with - at all - is not being forced to reveal what is inside sealed transports. Though if you do this, you need to write it down so you don't risk abusing it.

I'd say you still show the army list, so you're not an ass. But if you have three Rhinos and there are three squads off the table - no need to indicate what is what. That's perfectly fine to me.
