It's called "The City of Kings". Link here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tcokgame/the-city-of-kings-a-cooperative-adventure-for-1-4/description

This game is an AMAZING deep RPG experience!! Sure to be the next big hit in board games when it's released!! Will no doubt win all sorts of gaming awards!!

Don't miss out on this Kickstarter!!!

From "The City of Kings" Kickstarter campaign page:

"The City of Kings is a fully cooperative fantasy adventure board game. You and up to 3 friends play the roles of the surviving leaders and must defeat the armies of Vesh over a series of 7 stories. Each story offers a unique challenge and has optional objectives depending on how long you want to play.

The game features full character customisation, worker management, board exploration, roleplaying style quests and strategic combat designed for replayability. Experience dice free combat and battle against more than 10,000,000 uniquely generated creatures on a map that has 1,000's of possible layouts, using characters you create by choosing from over 100 different options."

But is it AMAZING?

I don't know if this ad post had enough exclamation points to convince me....

It looks like a game built from concept art for a mobile or browse game.

I'd dial the aggression down from an AMAZING 10!!! to a reasonable 6.

As it is, I'm really put off by the EXTREME MARKETING!!!

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

Eh. Those styles of RPG aren't my blood for the blood god, to be honest. Though it certainly looks nice aesthetically.

Also tone down the marketing plox. Are you selling an RPG or a used Buick?

we were somewhere near cadia on the edge of the eye of terror, when the spook began to take hold...

Are you part of the development cycle Viper2?

I will look at the game anyhow, I have been waiting for my latest KS project to back. You have about a 40% chance of backing for RPG boardgames on my existing record, those aren't bad odds really.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Viper2 posts like this on BGG, too.

Anyway, City of Kings has a worker placement element that's not in most adventure boardgames, so, if you're tired of dice-chuckers, look into it. Go onto BGG so you can better do your research before backing.

I took one look at it and haven't backed, I even decided not to let the Dakka sale pitch not dissuade me. The artwork however was not to my liking and I didnt like the feel of the game.
Not a Caps Lock worthy effort in my opinion.

I have to admit that I was originally put off by the OP, thinking that it was some sort of slightly over the top sales pitch. However, having clicked on the link out of morbid curiosity - I have a strange interest in the practices of snake oil salesman - I have become quite interested by this game. Enough so, in fact, that I have popped my KS cherry and actually backed the game.

I think that this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it looks different enough that it can fill a niche in my board gaming arsenal.

The posts on BGG give a much more in depth look and understanding of the game, and I think the link provided above by ced1106 is fairly comprehensive concerning what impression we have of the game at this stage.

If, like me, you were originally put off by the OP don't do yourself a disservice, check it out and see if it ticks any boxes.

Caveat emptor - I am a backer, so I want to see this game do well - come on stretch goals! - so have an agenda when pushing this.

New preview up on Man vs Meeple, providing a useful insight into the flavour of the game:

The KS has just entered its last 36 hours. Thought I'd bump this for anyone who might not have seen it or for anyone on the fence.
