This is modified from the Marauder entry found in IA 13 and downloadable as part of the Tyrant's Legion update.

Obviously casual play. Thoughts?

Faction: Marauders

Allies of convenience: Chaos Space Marines, Genestealer Cults, Imperial Guard, Space Marines (representing renegades, secessionists, etc.), Eldar (all kinds), Orcs
Desperate Allies: Tau

Formations:

Raiding Party: Marauder Squad (troops)

Warband: Captain's Corsairs, 1-3 Marauder Squads (troops), 0-1 Raider Support

Units:
(troops) Marauder Squad: as printed, with the following chantes:
-remove In it For the Money
-Dedicated Transports include: Arvus, Chimera, Centaur (IA 1)
Dedicated transports may buy "Stripped Down" for 10 points: this gives them the following special rules:
Open Topped
Unstable platform: Shots fired out of the transport may only be snap fire, and charges when taking advantage of Assault Vehicle require a Dangerous Terrain check.

(HQ) Captain: marauder Squad, with the mandatory upgrade replacing the Chief with a Captain (keeping the same options and special rules) for 25 points:

4/4/3/3/2/4/2/9/5+
Independent character, may not leave unit.

The Captain's unit can take one additional Specialist trait at the cost of 2 points/model

The Captain's unit may take the following:
0-1 Astropath (25 points, codex imperial agents/AM, includes Specialist)
0-2 death cult assassins (18 points each, includes Specialist)

The Captain's unit may take a Valkyrie (imperial agents/AM) as a dedicated transport

Raider Support: The following units may be taken as from the respective codex, representing allies, enforcers, or other specialists under the Captain:
Tauros (IA 1)
Hades Breaching Squad (IA 1)
Tempestus Scions (AM)
Warrior Squad (DE)
Beast pack (DE)
Kommandos (Orks)
Stormboys (ork)
Carnivores (Tau)

I like it as a small fluffy fashion.

Only issue I have is with units having to take a dangerous terrain check when charging out of Stripped Down vehicles, seems a little too detrimental.

Other than that, looks like a very fun force to run.

One more thing, perhaps add Ogryns as an option under Raider Support?

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

It's a pretty cool concept that indeed deserves more light. 40K does need more pirates here and there. I like the idea of the wide array of mercenary. I would also remove the dangerous terrain test for something else (maybe disordered charge instead). It makes more sense.

Thanks

I'm glad the dangerous thing was too far-- I strongly dislike people homebrewing rules that are too good, and I was already improving the unit, so I wanted to err on the side of caution. I think a disordered charge is definitely reasonable.

I forgot for the transport list-- how do people think about adding the genestealer Goliath truck (just the basic version)?

I think the Ogryns would fit, since it's just a cap of one unit, feelings on allowing both varieties since they both have some thematic place there?

By all account, it should be there. It looks good on a pirate force.

Definitely think the Goliath fits in.

I'm not sure about the Bullgryns though, they look a little too well equipped in my opinion (I'll let other people weigh in on that, I could imagine some kitbashed Bullgryns looking really good on the other hand)

I like the concept of this and have thought before that there should be a 2nd human army to represent non-chaos Rebel factions And don't think that all there technology needs to be dulled down, as there could be sections of revolutionary/resistance that have possibly moved further without the dogmatic views of the Imperium
